Did you try them yet?

Before you decide to throw them away and ask for a refund, give them a try.  I don't know which flavor you received, but the Cinnamon Raisin has some good reviews.  So much so, that I ordered them myself (yikes!).  I am from NY and have access to all kinds of bagels, but I thought I would give these a try.  I am not worried about how I will heat them up.  I will pop them in the toaster like I always do.  I personally wouldn't eat them without toasting them, but that's just me.  I don't really believe for one second that these bagels are going to have "bakery freshness" after being shipped in a box for a few days in extreme heat.  I'd have to go to a real bagel store for that.

If you do try them, please let us know what you think. I haven't received mine yet and of course I am curious.

Bagels have always needed help - toasting - or they are just a hunk of dough.  I've ordered twice and now done with them....but microwave (split first) for 3 seconds and then toast and slap with butter.

........when the baker brags about NY City water makes the difference...I laugh.  Can't imagine what all is in NY water  (ugh).....now Colorado pure water I'd believe.  NY has an underground full of sewer pipes along WITH water pipes.  Not a good selling point to me.

Please do not denigrate something about which you know nothing about. NYC water is known to be some of the best tasting water in the country. FYI. a good bagel does not need to be toasted. IT is delicous straight from the bakery with just a little butter. I can't imagine anyone buying bagels from QVC. Then again, I feel that way about pretty much all the food sold here.

Fyi:.

"New York City has three major watersheds: the Croton (located north of the city), Catskill, and Delaware systems, both located west of the Hudson River. About 95% of the city’s water is obtained from the Delaware and Catskill systems and about 3% from the Croton system.

Drinking Water Supply & Quality Report

New York City continues to enjoy some of the best tap water in the world. In 2019, our drinking water met or surpassed every national and state standard for quality".

I believe the owner/baker said their water comes from the Catskills.  👍

Re:   New York bagels

"New York bagels are superior to other bagels due to two things
: The New York water, which is a key ingredient, plus the way the bagels are cooked. Tap water in New York is very soft, meaning it has low concentrations of minerals like calcium and magnesium. In fact, the state has some of the softest water in the country. The chemical makeup of water effects the gluten in the dough. Hard water toughens gluten, while soft water softens it, making the dough goopier. This produces a more delicious, chewy bagel. When in New York you should not miss the chance to have a bagel."

@reiki604  ... you are 100% correct ... the QVC bagels don’t come close to a NYC bagel ... NYC BAGELS ARE SO GOOD YOU CAN EAT THEM PLAIN!!

@EatWell @fthunt  Yes, IMFat is correct that NYC water comes from the Catskills Mountains about 100 miles or so north of NY in the beautiful mountains. Learning and research is a good thing.
