Disappointed in Kitchen Aid mixer shippment

I recently ordered and received a 5 speed KitchenAid mixer.  The mixer had no issues.  As always the quality was definitely there.  However, my issue was the packaging of the mixer.  It was not repackaged and packed inside another shipping box so when I received it I was shocked at the condition of the box.  The orginal mixer box was so ragged and looked as though it came out of a bargain bin. I'm surprised it even worked.  Not a good look for something that was a gift!  In addition, I had paid $20.00 extra to receive it quickly.

The delivery people are not going to handle your package with kid gloves.

I have received many products (not just from QVC) lately without an outer box, just shipped in the product box, like you would find on a brick and mortar store shelf.

I don't like it, especially when shipping heavy objects which tend to get dents and tears in the box.

@SamBrown And that's why the seller should be putting it into an outer box. Then that heavy outer box gets the wear and tear that goes on in shipping. I think the OP has a reasonable complaint.

@shoesnbags  but the mixer was intact so no need for another box.

And then the shipping & handling price goes up because of the labor time to repackage.  I see messages all the time saying the item might ship in is original packaging.

But she said this was to be a gift. No one wants to give a gift in a beat up box. As OP said, it looks like it came from a bargain basement.  We'll have to agree to disagree.

Ok, but does someone open and use a gift?  I realize the box was damaged, but I still wouldn't open it and try it out.  Also, with a disclaimer that it could ship in it's original packaging I wouldn't take a chance for a gift.

@Tori3569  Normally, I would agree with you but maybe because the box was damaged she was concerned about the mixer. I wouldn't want to give a gift that I thought was broken. Just a thought.

@Tori3569 Read the OP again.  She said nothing about a disclaimer that it could ship in original packaging.  That was someone else who was replying, not the OP.

ETA LOL, I just checked and you were the poster who brought up disclaimers.
