I'm not sure why you are offended! A very special friend was here when she noticed the comment about African American dolls. Her immediate response was that there were never any dolls that she could find for her adopted daughter. She is Korean, as is her adopted daughter. They have the most amazing eyes - just exquisite. As is their beautiful skin.

@Goodie2shoes wrote:JUST SAW THE VENDOR SELLING CABBAGE PATCH DOLLS AND NOT ONE WAS AFRICAN AMERICAN, ONLY WHITE DOLLS. DID THEY ALREADY SELL OUT OF AFRICAN AMERICAN DOLLS? WHAT GIVES QVC ? I BOUGHT MY DAUGHTER A CABBAGE PATCH DOLL BACK IN THE EIGHTIES AND IT WAS AFRICAN AMERICAN SO I KNOW THEY WERE MADE. YOU WILL PROBABLE SPOOF MY QUESTION BUT I THINK IT'S UNFAIR FOR QVC TO ALLOW THIS.
Oriental is a term that refers to artifacts, not people,

@Goodie2shoes wrote:CS, THANKS FOR YOUR POSITIVE RESPONSE AND I APPRECIATE YOUR PLAN TO FORWARD MY COMMENT. i THINK THERE SHOULD BE DOLLS FOR EVERY ETHNICITY INCLUDING ORIENTAL, NATIVE AMERICAN, ETC. MAYBE THAT'S SOMETHING THE CABBAGE PATCH COMPANY SHOULD LOOK INTO. I HAVE NO NEED TO BUY A CABBAGE PATCH DOLL SO I WILL NOT BE CHECKING WITH TARGET OR OTHER STORES LISTED BY ANOTHER COMMENTOR i JUST FELT QVC SHOULD MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS REPRESENTED BECAUSE PEOPLE OF ALL ETHNICITIES SHOP ON QVC.
Ditch the ALL CAPS. It would make your posts much easier to read. It's good to keep in mind that QVC stock has a lot of turnover. You're not guaranteed to find what you saw yesterday. So sometimes options are offered that you may never know about.

Ok, so you never intended to buy any CP doll, regardless of the ethnicity, but you did want to come here and make a stink about the fact that you didn’t see any AA dolls presented, maybe they sold out??? Like I said- you just wanted to cause a stink.

because using that particular term to describe people is no longer acceptable and is considered racist and offensive.

At the risk of sounding ignorant (which I am on this subject) how do you describe someone who is Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese?? or whatever? What if I leave someone out? Is Caucasian now offensive? Is there anything that doesn't upset someone? I don't mean to be rude, but I'm 84 and very confused by some of today's thinking.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe "Asian."

the term has not been acceptable for quite a while now. i am not going to start a debate about it, but if you search you can easily find out why you should avoid the use of that term when referring to people. when was the last time you actually saw that word refer to a person and not "things?"
the word is associated with a period of time when asian americans were not treated as equals.
use the term asian americans/asian OR if you know where the person is from, use korean, japan, taiwanese, chinese.

oh stop it...it's not like you have never "not seen" an african american anything...did you contact the makers about this same concern back in the 80's?...it's the world we live in.
