Go to the area where you want to start a thread (Viewpoints, if it's here) and click the green bar that says "new discussion".

Click on New Discussion...to the right of your screen. When you do a box will drop. Fill in the first square as your title and in the reply box write what you want to discuss.

Re: when you start a thread,

I don't start many, but when I do, I usually try to respond to the res-ponders. If the thread starts to veer off in a direction that isn't good...I leave it alone and let it sink. Usually. Wink

Open one of the forums, say Viewpoints. Look around the area where this one says "New Reply". There would will see where it says "New Discussion". Click on that and "there ya go".

I respond and participate unless it gets ugly - personal attacks and general fights - then I will refuse to go back and give the meanies the opportunity to continue to peck at me.

It depends on how the thread evolves. When I start a thread, I try and converse with those who respond to my post. Many folks don't respond to the original post, they respond to another responder, and many times that response is something dragged over from another thread or a dispute from years back! At that point, more often than not I give up and move on.

Yup......that about covers it for me too!

Re: when you start a thread,

Starting a thread is initiating a conversation so to just walk away without any response would be rude.
