I only ask because before we got our place and rented we would go down the shore over the winter to see the places so we knew what we were getting. Or look around in season to see what places were like. So sorry you had a bad experience but I agree you may have to chalk this up and move on.
We are about 2 1/2 to 3 hours away depending on traffic

One thing about hotels: you change the res. within their limit and they have to give any down-payment back. It's why I prefer hotels.
If I am disappointed by a place I stay at when travelling (it is always a hotel, I don't like b&bs and rentals), I just leave a frank and full review and chalk the unpleasantness off to experience.
My reviews get awards at a site where I post them.
Other people need to know, but if it wasn't bad enough to warrant relocation, I think you should be happy that you registered your sense that the advertisement was dishonest.
People who claim to offer services they _don't_ offer deserve reviews that mention this and other travellers will know better than to book there.
One star was for the place, one star was for the beachfront location and the third star was for the town itself

So you didn't like the place
the beachfront
or the town?

Love the beach and the town hated the ""Condo""

It was "nasty, smelly, hot, etc." and yet you stayed for three (3) nights? Didn't you get the message after the first night? Did you even go and check it out before you brought your own sheets and towels, etc.?
This is a new one for me. Did you pay her up front in full? You do realize that you paid over $200 per night and had to supply your own things? What did the room smell like anyway? Did you check under the bed?
Bedbugs would have been a big concern for starters.

I agree.
You gave the owner money in return for staying at her place.
You stayed for the entire length of the contract.
I doubt you are entitled to anything.
The best you can do is give the place a bad review and warn other potential renters away.
I paid for the 3 nights in addition to a deposit of 300

$200 a night would get you pretty much an ""average"" place at the beach....you do pay more to be right on the beach. i definitely would have been upset about the air conditioning situation.

I think since you stayed the full 3 days and didn't make your feelings known until after the fact, you're stuck paying the full amount.
I may have missed how or where you booked the condo but I've used VRBO before. For each rental, there is an option to view photos and see reviews. If the listing does not offer these or there are very few of them, I bypass that listing and move on. VRBO is not without an occasional problem but they work hard to make sure listings are what they say they are and there aren't any surprises.

If you hoped to get any part of your money back you should have waited to give the negative review. Once you left a negative review there is no advantage to the rental agent/owner in giving you money back.
Had I been in your situation, I would have paid with a credit card, notified the rental agent/owner that the place was uninhabitable by email so I had a record of it, and left. I would then have disputed the charge with my credit card company.

I called her the second I walked in to the place on Thursday afternoon, we rented thru Vacation Rentals dot come similar to VRBO.
