Maybe the cashier was fired, maybe not. The sad thing, the evil of this story is that op WANTED the cashier to get fired for something that was probably a mistake, an oversight. No one, no one would put their job in jeopardy by stealing $20 in postage stamps. OP went out of her way to accuse the cashier of stealing.....stamps. My guess is, they found them on the floor or at the register. Or perhaps that's my hope. And she's so proud of herself. Even if I THOUGHT the cashier took the stamps, I would have just said that she didn't give me the stamps. I wouldn't have accused her of taking them because there was no reason to think that she did. People do get distracted, they do make mistakes. And OP is so proud of herself....

I beg your pardon, chrystaltree, I never said that I WANTED the cashier to be fired, and you have no reason to slander me by saying that I did. And to say I am so proud of myself, can't believe you would say that about me, you don't know me at all, and I would say, just by reading your accusatory post,that you have a an evil mind and it makes you feel good by tearing another poster down. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Thank you, I LIKE CELERY, for your opinion, and ennui 1, could be, I never asked when they called me to pick them up.

I have learned to look at the receipt before I leave the store. The other day my coupons did not show at Target. That was 2 $2 for cat litter. The cashier gave me my coupons back and I went to customer service for the cashier didn't seem to do anything.

By the way I d0 not like the carousel at Walmart. Other grocery stores place the goods in your cart. At another store I go to I have to pack and I can see them.

If someone was fired over this mistake then this wasn't the first time there has been a problem. Employers don't usually rush to fire someone because it costs money to train someone to take their place. Better to correct the current employee.

I think cashiers at places other than the post office forget stamps because it isn't something they do each transaction. Easy to forget something that isn't a habit.

We don't have a carousel; here there's a "bring your own bag, or pay 10c for a paper one" law to do away with plastic bags. I've never seen a grocery store that puts your purchases in your cart, other than Costco, where everything is huge and wouldn't fit in a couple of bags.

When I buy stamps at the store, the cashier always gives them to me with the receipt rather than them going in the bag. I'd know if I didn't get my stamps, unless I just forgot I'd asked for them.

I then called Walmart and got CS, gave her the checker number and time etc. off the receipt, forgot to tell her to let me know, either way. So I called right back and explained if the checker balanced, she kept them, because we didnot get them.. I told her I know I sounded accusatory but that was the way it was.

I can see where chrystaltree might have gotten the idea that you wanted to get the checker in trouble with the above quote from your post. BUT you did go on to say that she probably just forgot in the quote below. I doubt they would fire someone for forgetting to give out stamps. The manager probably gave her or him a reminder to be more careful when checking people out. I can see how confusing it would be to have two carts full of items from one customer. You're so busy checking, bagging, and taking payment that it can be confusing especially if it is very hectic in the store. At my supermarket you have to buy stamps at customer service. The checker never sees the money or the stamps. That way there are not situations like the one op had.

I did tell CS we went through her line two times and she never said a word, so she probably just forgot.

I didn't know you could buy stamps at Walmart. We have a Super WM. Do they all sell stamps? Good to know if they do.

Once while at WM I put a small vinyl mattress cover in the seat part of my cart. As I shopped I put my purse on top of it without realizing it.

Went through the check-out line, paid for my items and left. When I was unloading my cart I picked up my purse and realized I hadn't paid for the cover. I ran back in a panic!

I could've been charged with shoplifting. Due to my employment contract, I'd have lost my job. Point being, sometimes people REALLY DO make mistakes. It's part of being human.
