I went and looked at the rating for the one shown today. 346 five star reviews, 42 one star, 29 two star, overall rating 4.5 stars. That's hardly a bad product, at least not in my opinion.
You're right, it's not a bad review. Maybe the bad reviews came from people who used them in a fire pit.

I had to look, I thought maybe it was a 1-star review item.
Both products are close to 5-star reviewed, obviously, a lot of people love it and have not had problems.
I did see the reviews you were talking about. I also saw it mentioned that the product was designed for a 700 watt oven. Not a lot of people, especially people with families, have a low watt oven like that, I think around 1100 watt is typical.
I wonder if people not being sure how to adjust cooking times for a higher watt oven, is causing a lot of problems. You would think that is something that the company would address in their instruction guide, and if there are some things that shouldn't be cooked in the higher watt oven, make that clear.
Sounds like it's a good concept and can be a good product, so, you have to decide if you want to give it a try!

The original rectangular one has 346 5-star ratings and 118 1-4 star ratings. The new round one isn't faring quite as well but still pretty good with 347 5-star ratings and 142 1-4 star ratings. They have sold many thousands of both.
I have both and use both regularly. They are fast, convenient, easy to clean and I'm often surprised at how good foods come out. The more I experiment the happier I am. I would give both the rectangular and the round 5 stars.

That is not completely correct. It says right in the manual that the recipes have recommended cooking times based on 1000-1200 watt units. There is a downloadable cooking chart available online that breaks cooking times down according to microwave wattage.

It wasn't the overall rating, it was the fact that the one-star ratings were from a number of people who said it didn't last and had problems AFTER the 30 day period was up. Most of the ratings on QVC products are done right away, after you've hardly used it. IMO the ratings OVER TIME are very valuable too.
ITA with what you said about adjusting the cooking times and the instruction guide. Some of these products QVC sells come with these manuals that were either translated verbatim from Chinese, are riddled with typos or written by someone for whom English is not their first language. Or just don't have the kind of information you need. I don't want to have to download it from the internet.
ITA it'd be nice if they addressed it in the presentation -- the negative reviews over time and explain what they might be doing wrong.

gazelle.... The $$$$$ it seems to be selling. I would not touch it with a ten foot , the reviews were terrible.

I've had the original for almost a year, and it's worked great. Sometimes I overcook certain items, but I don't mind burnt carrots. But most of the time, everything has turned out delicious.
