@cherry I just watched that- poor little girl, that is terrifying... had that of been us, those ring security would've been pulled out immediately.  I sure hope all these bad issues can be resolved..

Gosh makes me wonder how long that pervert had been watching them.. makes me so mad!!

As in most cameras/security systems, owners should take basic percautions when setting up the system. Passwords and usernames were not properly installed and as a result, a neighbor, was able to get into the system.

From the article, it looks like this doesn't only apply to Ring.  The article mentions something similar happening with a Google Nest camera as well.

DH and I have Ring. We don't pay the monthly monitoring nor do we ever share anything in the Neighbors app they are talking about and we do delete all the "hits" nightly.  Our's is also only outside to see who comes to our door.  We don't have it inside our home.

How scary though.

I saw the video too and it was horrifying but I wondered why would you put a camera in an 8 year old's bedroom. I can see a baby's room or toddlers room but an 8 year olds?

One of the scariest and creepiest things I've seen in a very long time!   Those hackers need to be charged, prosecuted and sentenced to prison.

I think the mother wanted to be able to check on her kids while at work...That poor child might have nightmares over this

And this isn't the first time I've seen security issues mentioned with the caneras - and not just Ring.   After I was robbed this summer, we investigated -  have taken actions I have no intention of detailing here.  Sorry.

As for the "Santa Claus" in the current story -  incredibly horrific.  Makes my robbery feel way less significant than it did at the time.
