I'm thinking about people like Marilyn Monroe who has been dead for  a long time ,already, and is still  considered a legend

Marilyn Monroe passed away in 1962.  It will be 2037 before this is an issue.  Most people alive will have no idea who she was.

I'm not as sure about that as you are.

IMHO Best to let Carrie and the other deceased rest in peace.   Move on to new actors.   Carrie and others are NOT cartoon characters to be replicated.

Re: resurrecting Carrie's image

My daughter is 24 and loves Marilyn Monroe.    She often wears a t-shirt or hoodie with her image and we can't go anywhere without someone stopping her to either give a nod to Marilyn or to ask where she got it.    It's amazing how popular she is, I have no idea why.  I just have never had "star" obsession with anyone, from my generation or any generation. So I don't get it and I can't explain it.

When all familymembers are deceased usually a lawyer or law firm can handle an estate.  I'm sure California is covered up with this type of industry.

Re: resurrecting Carrie's image

I remember seeing Humphrey Bogart "walking and talking" in a TV commercial some years back.

It was creepy, and seemed like an insult to his legacy.

The estates of Elvis, Michael Jackson, Shirley Temple and several other dead stars still continue to make money.

Yes they finished shooting the next Star wars VIII in July. She plays her role in that one. That is set to be released in Dec 2017.

However there are often retakes in blockbuster movies. They can use technology if they have to (and have before in these circumstances).

What is unclear is if she was to play a role in Star Wars IX which has to be made yet and released for 2019.
