I think it is the phrase of the moment to show that you are 'with it'..

Different terms, dialects, slang, pronunciations, etc are used in different parts of the country. You cannot control them so why let it bug you? Life is short. Relax.

I think Lori G. is apologizing for bragging about how cute she thinks her creations are.

Jane Treacy says, "Blah, blah . . . thank you very much . . . blah, blah."
That ANNOYS the daylights out of me. What is she thinking??? In the midst of a sales pitch, she says, "thank you very much" and carries on. HUH???

@jeanlake wrote:Just a personal annoyance, but constant apologies is a pet peeve of mine. This waters down the meaning of the phrase. You seldom hear men throwing around needless apologies.
A woman who is strong and voices her opinions is seen as a b****, whereas a man who is strong and voices his opinions is seen as a strong leader. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

@AuntG wrote:That Mika lady on the Morning Joe show will preface her opinions with "I'm sorry" This makes me wonder who she is apologizing to. If she doesn't have a backbone to feel comfortable with her opinions, then she should just read the news and let the others on the show voice their opinions.
Ages ago I recall reading an article about women's confidence in business .... and lack thereof. It said women needlessly apologize much too often. Prior to that, I hadn't really thought about "unnecessary apologies", but after reading that article, it suddenly seemed to be all around me!
I'm not saying that is what the QVC host was doing, but clearly that morning show person needs to stop with all the "I'm sorry-ing". It diminishes her.

When someone says, "I'm sorry, but this is so stinkin' cute" (or whatever comes after the 'but') to me it's as if they are saying "I'm sorry if you don't agree with me, but..."
Something else I've noticed about Lori G., is that she often says, "this top is everything". Really? A piece of clothing is not everything. And she also often used an incomplete phrase saying, "I mean. I mean" a few times.
Susan Graver often refers to her clothing as smart, proper, and appropriate. I sometimes wonder if that's on purpose as a jab to LOGO.
I actually like a number of items each of them offer, but can do without some of Lori's lingo.

When I can't hear what someone said to me, I get closer and say, 'I'm sorry?' (meaning I didn't catch that). But maybe I should switch to, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that stinkin' phrase." I want to be hip.
