A poster in this thread made a comment that use of the phrase girl was indicative of an anything goes attitude that "makes us look like a third world country".
The post was either edited or deleted. I'm not going to quote something when I find the use of the terminology to be offensive. Not a requirement

I totally agree! That term is like "nails on a chalk board"!!!

Have you ever heard someone speak and they always say at the end --- "ya know?"
I also believe it just becomes an automatic comment.
For me, I am SO done with people adding the word "like" into every sentence. It adds, like, nothing and is, like, just annoying.

So true.

Talking behind my back??? You didn't like my opinion? I stand by it.
Yes, I deleted it before I saw your comment. I wasn't in the mood for controversial comments today, so I thought I'd head them off before they started....but here I am. There is always someone offended by an opinion. Never fails.
I don't think you read my comment carefully. I was talking mostly about the lowering standards in the U.S., values, morals and poor English usage. Low standards, poor usage of languages is what we find in the third world ...the reason they are third world.
The words we use say a lot about us. It isn't just the word "girl," it's using "I seen" instead of "I saw" or "I have seen", mispronunciation of words, and others on QVC.
I stand by saying lowering standards is a trip to the third world. Some of it has already arrived.

Talking behind your back? Lol, I didn't even use your name.
Going from a QVC host using the word girl to using the term third world country in a perjorative way is quite a stretch. Your reference was in the news very recently too, so that says all I really need to know about your opinion. Guess that's just a coincidence.

@Greeneyedlady21 Isn't it counterproductive to post something when nobody knows what you're talking about? What's the point? Just ignore it.

@Beacon girl That is very common in some parts of the country, namely mine. Everyone is referred to as "you guys". My parents used to sneer about it but I'm used to it.

@Tinkrbl44 You mean, like, Isaac? He's the biggest "like" meister in the world. 😄
