Re: problems at Amazon Fresh

[ Edited ]

It took me more than an hour to fill my delivery cart for our local supermarket (Vons), only to find out when I went to check out that the first available spot was NEXT Sunday. So I will be sure to put in my secondorder in a timely fashion.

But because of that far out date, we need some perishables. We have an little place called Grow that specializes in produce, meat, fish, and assorted gourmet items. Very fancy and expensive. But they can deliver tomorrow, I think.

Brave new world!

ETA: one good thing is that I can edit my Von's order up until about the day before.

The problem with hoarding has become worse.  Amazon Fresh (Amazon's version of a supermarket delivered) normally has more food then supermarket.  But increased free membership, plus the problem of wholesalers moving products out under demand has  created problems in having food and other other products low on the shelf.  Last week I was able to order, but had to go to a local supermarket to get certain things.  And struck out in getting some toiletries. I guess I will have to do this again.

Try Instacart or Shipt delivery in your area....in many cities they offer delivery from a bigger variety of stores....

Well welcome to the grocery business Amazon you opened that door ..........as the song goes..."how you like it now".......maybe they should have stayed in their own little corner of retail.....(I'm not an Amazon fan)

I was disappointed by Instacart.  They orient you to you closest suprmarket.  But some supermarkets don't have what you want.  Instacart is a uber for food delivery.  But it has to be the store nearest you that they get the food from to deliver.

@Spurt    I was reading the Neighborhood app this morning and felt really sorry for one lady.  She said she went up to Walmart to get food for her family and the shelves were absolutely bare.  "What do I do now?"

She apparently doesn't watch TV or read the paper because that news is all over the place.  Ever see pictures of those women grabbing for a loaf of bread in Russia?

Seems to me like The Administration needs to be doing something about coordinating shipping of certain essential merchandise like hand sanitizer and certain foods as well as putting a moritorium on gouging.

Hmmm, no. This little market apparently was discovered by others. They have virtually no stock, hence no delivery. Darn. I'm going to have to hold my breath and go shopping tomorrow. My husband and daugther will kill me.

UPDATE-- The President called on Americans to cease hoarding groceries and other supplies-Trump assured Americans, after speaking with leading grocery chain executives, that grocers would remain open and that the supply chain remained healthy. Vice President Mike Pence urged Americans to only buy the groceries they need for the week ahead.

I think rather than the Administration that should be handled by the grocery store chains, its just common sense....thats what HEB is doing now and all these grocery stores should have done that when crowds started pouring in---put limits on essential items........  of course Im sure they love the ca$h thats rolling in......  Woman Frustrated

That poor lady is out of luck if she lives in a rural area with not many store options....  Maybe there's a Target or Walgreens (our Walgreens has quite a selection of frozen and refrigerated foods and staples) or even a convenience store close buy to get SOMETHING like sandwich meat, eggs, bread and milk, or soup until stores get re-stocked......

Re: problems at Amazon Fresh

I stopped by a little market today.  A farm stand that also sells dairy products, eggs, baked goods, in addition to produce.  They were sold out of many things.  I did get squash, apples, maple syrup, and banana bread!

Going early to a big market tomorrow, and not looking forward to it

Yep, the delivery dates/times are limited for Instacart and our grocery chain too.... When I scheduled my order a message came up on a couple items warning---this item is running low, be sure to chose a replacement---I chose something else.... My sis got a Tuesday delivery date and I got a Wednesday....I thought Id better put my order in for next week....but they caution us, they will try their best, but some items maybe out of stock....ITS A BUMMER!!!! GOOD LUCK! I hope the HOARDERS get a dose of karma...

Re: problems at Amazon Fresh

@Spurt    I've watched news reports all day, just finish local and national but didn't hear one word of this.  I can assure the PTB  that supply chain IS NOT healthy.  VP Pence needs to go grocery shopping.  Why don't they ask grocers to limit quantities and make gouging illegal?
