Years ago another poster and I agreed on the same issues of a particular thread and wanted to be able to speak privately. That was as I said years ago when it was possible to show your e-mail address without it turning against you. I typed in mine and we communicated for a long time.

There is no way I would do that today. I have been here since 2007 and have seen numerous changes which should be expected, however, in today's world here on he boards the last thing we need is private messaging.

OK thanks for all your replies~ I was only asking because as I was reading the reviews on an item earlier today someone had left a review for an item that she really loved and was really hoping that it would be available again...and it is. I would have liked to let her know because she would still be able to receive it before Christmas.

You can use private messaging on HSN's forums. It's slow there so I don't go there often.

on most forums/BB the PM feature is something that a user has to turn on, so you wouldn't be getting messages from anyone unless you allowed it.

I don't have an issue with it

Some posters shared email addys before the mods clamped down tighter on that and they gossip about posters via email.
Also there are 3 other sites (maybe more) where some of your fellow posters rip and shred Q posters and mods daily. They also copy and paste PMs and personal email messages and openly share them. Be careful who you trust.

@bluelunayou can't watch these rogue boards because they're private. If you knew what went on over there, your head would spin. Better you don't know, because chances are they're not your friends anyway. I know from experience.

I registered on 2 of the "private" boards so I do read them. And fyi one of your personal emails to a member who is clearly an ex-friend was posted on one of the boards for all members to see and gossip about. It's a disgusting group of people.

I second that.

On one board, which sall not be named, when it first started, it was very popular. Over time though, some of that "sparkle" has seem to have worn off.

They only have about 200 total members, and the most that were ever on line in a day was about 200.

Now, they only average about twenty members on any given day, and those are the hard-core radicals that love to talk ***t about the people here.

It's scary, disgusting, and disheartening to see just how much hate is going on over there.

I peek in from time-to-time, I will be 100% honest and up-front about that, but I stay in the safe areas, such as entertainment.

But when I am there, I don't stay very long.

I can't stomach all of the vile things that are said over there.

I'ver never joined any of the peripheral hate boards, but I have seen different content over the years. It must just be awful to want to marinate in hatefulness all the time.

I guess one must just hope they decide to rise from the muck at some point. If not, oh well. Ya can't hurt me no matter what you say about me unless I already care about you. Hopefully, others don't let it get them down. It's about them, not you.
