just got my COLA notice for 2017...

[ Edited ]

It says that my SSDI monthly benefit amount will increase by $4.00.

(0.3%)

Hey, it's something... and my extremely tiny budget appreciates it.

If you received your 2017 COLA increase notice (whether for SSDI, regular SS, or other), did you see the same $4.00 added to create a new 2017 benefit amount?

Just curious.

$2.67 increase; but medicare went up $16 !!!!

But I understand that those qualifying this year will pay $158 a month for Medicare, so I guess I'm lucky.............

I did not get my notice but I believe those of us paying $104 for medicare are going to get an increase to $109, so in the end it will probably be close to even.

My state retirement income has a standard two-percent annual increase. Unless  there is a catastrophic financial event then it's always this way.

Something is better than nothing.  Social programs are headed for extinction.

I believe you are correct - medicare will go on vouchers - that won't work and they will use that as an excuse to drop it altogether. They will also privatize SS and that  will not work either. There are going to be a lot - hundreds of thousands of people in the future - who will never be able to retire. I am glad I'm old and won't be around to see this all transpire.

People who are working aren't even getting COL raises and you are pouting because your raise is so small. tsk tsk.
