I once worked for an organization that frequently offered "practice interviews" for candidates.  (I hate interviews and they are probably worse now. )  Since I considered them like practicing to break a leg, i never participated.  If you feel you need practice, go for it.  If you prefer a more spontaneous approach, avoid non-productive situations.

A job interview is like being on stage because you put your best foot forward.  Go play the part, try out, and if you don't make it, it will be easier and more effective next time.

As others have stated, you go through with it because it is excellent practice and it is an excellent opportunity for you to get in front of management and sell them on yourself.  As stated above, you may be surprised to find you end up being recognized with a different job or different promotion as a result.

The best advice I ever got was to go on one interview a year to keep your interviewing skills sharp and to see what's out there and how the market is and to always have an interview suit that fits in your closet in case an opportunity comes up unexpectedly.

Doing an interview counts as one of those "getting outside your circle of comfort."

Do it! Getting outside your comfort zone is good for anyone! Nobody "likes" the interviewee position let's face it! As was mentioned previously, just think how proud you will be of yourself... You will gain evermore more confidence!❤️

If you already scheduled an interview - go through with it. Canceling regardless of what you believe is predestined would look bad on you. As others have mentioned, there may be other opportunities and they would remember you if you did well.

IMHO you absolutely go through with it....

First you have the opportunity of knowing it's in the bag for someone else so you can tailor some of your answers and attitude towards trying to change the outcome!!  Even if you don't get the job (as you suspect) it's an incredible opportunity to practice tailoring your answers towards a specific outcome and honing your interview skills!!

Don't pass up the opportunity to practice!
