This morning, my husband and I were discussing his character on WKRP and lamenting the end of FM radio and on air personalities like " Dr. Johnny Fever." 

We both grew up listening to what is now "Classic Rock" and late night music....carrying our little transistor radios around and clinging to that tinny sound coming through.

It made us feel cool.

Your favorite DJ was often known by one or two names...in DC we both recalled "Surf" and a few others.

Mr. Hesseman played the roll perfectly.  I'd like to think of him doing DJ duty in heaven

WKRP had a great mix of characters.  I read his obit in the paper.  He did more acting than I thought.  Leaves a wife behind. didn't mention kids.
