It's very easy.  I have only done it 2 or 3 times over the years.  Just go to the Help section.  You leave your phone number and a customer service rep calls you.  I believe it says, you will get a call within in an hour but I got the call 15 or 20 minutes later.  Their cs reps are very nice to deal with resolved my issues.

Re: how to contact amazon

[ Edited ]

I've called tons of times. I go  through their "Help" link and then the "contact" link. Once you get there, you put in your number. Your phone will ring within seconds.

@goldensrbest  This is Amazon's customer service number (real person.)   (888) 280-4331

It's the number i've used whenever I had a problem and it was resolved without any issue.

@ciao_bella  that's the number I have also and never had a problem that was never solved.

I had a major fraud issue with Amazon about a year ago. Account was locked and numerous phone calls that "promised" my account was cleared led to nothing. It wasnt until I started that email paper trail outlining every call and what I was told that the issue was resolved. Hubs says when it's in writing, the issue has written evidence you tried to resolve it and got nowhere.  I eventually closed out that account, but could only do that after it was resolved.  I give them an F in customer service.

@bmorechickHow do you close an Amazon Account?  Do you have to ask them to delete your information?  I'm asking because you don't have an account # or anything, they just identify you by your cell $ or email address and whatever password you set up.

Thanks for your response in advance.

I always call them.  Plenty of times they give a credit to my account for mishaps and/or confusion.  They do make mistakes (everyone does); however they go above and beyond to make it right @chrystaltree

I call them directly and because my phone # is associated with my account they know why I might be calling.  I will get automated info asking me if I'm calling about a recent order for which they will give me the details of via their robotic sounding answering system.  I just stay on the line and ask to speak to a rep if I need to.

Thank you so much @Sushismom .  I still have some prime membership left.  I don't plan on closing, I just didn't know Amazon helped you do it.  I know when I've had trial Prime Memberships for 30 days I can discontinue that and not be charged.

As of right now, I still have months of prime left.  It's very good to know that people can close it (by Amazon deleting all your personal info).

Amazon never fails on you.  They always call back.  They do everything for you.

I usually handle everything in writing and it works.

I have a terrible time with accents so if I do call I ask for a native US English speaker and they connect me.
