There are no Kmarts in Alaska, they closed 14 years ago. I read Sears is closing 80-100 stores and their Canadian chain.

Not yet but it's pretty dead there most of the time. To hear it was closing wouldn't be much of a surprise at all.

Still open and so is Kmart. Sears is in a mall and I don't go to malls anymore. I shop online and like to go to thrift shops.

I do have Sears appliances which have lasted a long time. My dad who is no longer living retired from Sears years ago.

I'm hoping the JCPenney store in my area closes soon. I hate the way they redid the Kitchen, Bedroom, and Curtains departments. It's dreadful.

I have no idea. It is such a dump that I never go anywhere near there.

Haven't been to any of the few malls that still have one lately to see if they're still open or not. Even fewer of the malls in my area have a JCP. Neither of these stores is really a shopping destination for me, though both offer some options I appreciate. I do hope they both are able to hang on because I hate to see more of our 'institutions' fold.

The Sears closest to me is still open in a large, busy mall. I recently bought a Kenmore microwave to replace my old one that died. Did the whole transaction online with live chat and arranged to pick it up. It was a very pleasant, stress-free experience. So I hope this Sears remains open.

Not yet--but after what my husband went thru trying to buy a riding lawn mower using an old fashioned check, I'm not surprised they are closing. Took him over an hour for the numbskulls to get it approved, and that was after all his I.D. and a pint of blood was taken. They issued him 2 $500 gift cards to buy the stupid thing!!!!!! Customer service and associate training is sadly lacking!!! And all because these people thought $1000 was alot of money for a check. OMG--what if he had given them all $100 bills? Should write and complain. Idiots!!! Only been with Sears since the 1970's--------{#emotions_dlg.sneaky}

I like their small appliance section, too. I purchased a wonderful foot bath there that I couldn't find anywhere else, and at a great sale price. We must be lucky because ours is neat, clean, well-stocked, and busy.

Ours is still open, but it never seems very busy. Rarely do I go there.
