I don't remember another concert name. I vaguely remember there was one near there?
I'll have to refresh my sister's answer.
I only remember her saying it was muddy and they weren't able to see a lot of it.
I'm going to ask her again![]()
Everytime I watched a video of it I always hoped I would see her lol! Like looking for someone in the whole state of NY!

@on the bay @moonandthestars I also wanted to go to Woodstock. It was being promoted as 'Three Days of Music and Art". The radio ads made it sound like the best time ever.
It was the "Summer of Love", man!
We had no idea how big it would be and what it would turn into.
My girls were toddlers and my son was only 6 weeks old. I was in my 20's, old enough to go, but with a new baby, we did not go. That was the right decision.
It turned into a naked, muddy, drugfest and that would not have been my scene. I was all about the music and art.
I do have the wonderful DVD of the entire festival and all the great entertainers and music.
I have had two Woodstock parties at my house. The last one was for my son's birthday, when he turned 40, the summer of the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. It was a surprise party and he had no clue, everyone kept the secret.
I made invitations and asked everyone to dress for the occasion. For the best outfits, I gave prizes, two Lava Lamps and Frisbees.
Each guest got a Woodstock ticket that I made by photo copying a friend's actual ticket from Woodstock. They each got a peace sign necklace and a small bag of Grannie's Groovy Granola. Using my granola recipe that I have been making forever, I filled little plastic bags with granola and attached a label made from tie-dye printed paper, with Grannie's Groovy Granola written on the label.
We had the party on our wrap-around porches and I had hung up replicas of Woodstock posters on the house. On the garage
I placed a sign that read,"Hippies Use Side Door".
My younger son's Volkswagon Bus was in the driveway and I had decorated it with big peace signs and flowers.
Speakers for music were on the porch playing the great music from that year. My husband manned the grill, cooking
hot dogs and hamburgers. I made salads. The food was simple,
chips and other snacks and colorful, tie-dye looking lollipops for the children.
We had a tie-dye colored sheet cake, which I decorated and added a small die cast metal Volkswagon bus, that I decorated with tiny peace sign, heart and daisy stickers.
We had a Twister game for the children to play. The little grandchildren wore tie-dye tee shirts.
Inside the house, in the TV room, I played the Woodstock DVD during the entire party. The entrance door had hanging doorbeads and the room was lit with a blacklight for the posters on the walls. There was also a Lava Lamp, and on the coffee table was a basket with the
little bags of granola, for guests to take.
It was such fun planning and creating that party. Everyone had a great time.
I think that the other concert was "The Monterey Pop Festival". My son said that all the cool bands played at that one.
One other thing, my son born the summer of 69', started playing guitar when he was 9 years old. He and his friends started a band at high school age. It was a heavy metal band.
After high school, they travelled to venues in New York and New Hampshire to play. They recorded an album and their music was played on a college radio station.
He left the band when he got married and later the band went to Europe for their concert tour.

What a great party that must have been and you are a very cool mom!
I really enjoyed reading about it.
@moonandthestars,@Enufstuf,
I found the concert that was playing the same summer in August the same time as Woodstock. It was The Harlem Cultural Festival with over 300,000 people attending.BB King, Stevie Wonder, Mahalia Jackson, Nina Simone and others.
The Monterey one was in 1967 and Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix played at that one too.
I read that the Beatles didn't attend Woodstock because John had said if Yoko's band couldn't play too then The Beatles wouldn't come. And they didn't. I wonder how the other Beatles felt about that.
Other sources said the only band they could get was "John and Yokos Plastic Band" and Woodstock producers said no.
The Beatles were on the verge of breaking up then too.
And some artists wouldn't come because they didn't want to perform with so many other artists. Like Led Zepplin's mgr who felt he would be just another band playing in all those and felt it more important to be a headliner of his own show. I bet they were sorry about it later.

@on the bay Thanks for that information about the Harlem
Cultural Festival. I asked my younger son if he knew and he thought that it was Monterey.
I liked Janis Joplin and her Pearl album is in my collection.
Last year I read her biography and it is so sad that such a talented person, was so self destructive.
All those years, being home with babies, I was not a concert goer. In the early 60's we saw Peter, Paul and Mary and later we saw Tom Jones.
I would have loved to have seen B.B.King. My first husband and I went to a B.B. King concert in Boston, in the 70's and he never showed up. So disappointing. Opening acts were Luther Johnson and a 12 year old boy, named Bobby Love. That little kid was great. Luther Johnson was a very good entertainer as well. But, that was not who we went to that concert to see.
It seems like that was a good decision, to not let Yoko's band play at Woodstock. Could you even imagine that?

Ick, no I cannot imagine that lol!
