@Renna wrote:I would love to visit Australia. But not sure about flying that far.
My dream vacation would be a RV road trip through the good ole U.S.A.
Just returned from Australia, NZ trip and it is a great part of the world and worth the flight. Such nice people, the animals and just beautiful and interesting countries.

A river cruise down the Rhine sounds very appealing.

I have this fantasy that I refuse to let go of, even though the chances are looking less and less likely. If my mom has any money left when she passes, I'd like to use it to rent a cottage in the English countryside for a month in the summertime. From there I would motor around Britain with my husband. We have both been tied down with family obligations for most of our married lives and it would be nice, just for once, to do what we want.

I don't even care if I never travel beyond these borders. I'm a news junkie and so that is my frontier, I guess. If I had to choose someplace, it would be New York City at Christmastime or maybe Key West in the dead of winter. I used to go to New York a lot years ago. It is a great place.

My husband would agree with you; he doesn't like the inconvenience of travel. He also is a news/political junkie. Nothing boring about that - you are probably both well informed.
We lived in NY area for some years and yes, NYC at Christmas time is spectacular.
My son was married on the beach in Key West in January a few years ago and it was 34 degrees and windy that morning. Brrrrr.

A few years ago we went to a wedding in early March in Key West. We wore our coats the entire time we were there. It was warmer when we returned home to NJ than it was in Florida. Just our luck, there was a warm-up the following week.

China or India would be my dream destinations--difficult for me because of the size of these countries and complexities/ogistical difficulties in avoiding a guided tour.
I prefer solo and unscripted travel--not that I am especially adventurous, but vacations are so precious, and every day I like to decide what I would most like to do that day. One time in Japan, I got fascinated by the Sumo wrestling tournament being televised and just stayed in my room for hours watching--rushed down for take-out sushi as the evening came on.
As for China and India, each has been so productive of amazing art and culture. Either country would provide a feast for the senses.

My husband and I love to travel and have been fortunate to visit many wonderful places all over the US and internationally. I want to see as much of this earth as I can before I leave here. Still on our bucket list: Italy, New Zealand, and we will be going to China in Sept., God willing.
