We were thinking about taking a short vacation there, but, after reading not so great stuff going on there and it being a sanctuary city I'm having 2nd thoughts.
Any opinions ? I'm scared to go now.

One of my yogi girlfriends vacationed there last year and loved it, great food, great shops. She came home with an Om necklace I wanted to rip off her neck and claim for my own. Never knew it was a sanctuary city.

I haven't heard about anything bad happening there. What are you talking about?
Santa Fe is heavily populated with well-heeled, highly educated, cultured, liberal aging hippies. They love everyone. It's called "the City Different". So it's a sanctuary city, as are many others. Do you think that means aliens are roaming the streets poised to rape and murder? Naw, it just means cops don't profile people based on race the way the sheriff does in Phoenix.
It's a beautiful place to visit this time of year. Take a ride up the mountain to the ski area. It's fun to just watch.

I read online its number 8 most crime ridden city out of 100. 100 being the safest. Police don't respond. Drunks on the street and especially at night.
High unemployment rate, some train that brings in gangs from cal. Highest break in rate, nothing good. Think I'll have to find another place. I'd be scared at night in my room.

I live in Denver but spent a long weekend there in Nov. Lots of art and good food and I really loved the Adobe architecture. The people are very friendly and I did not feel unsafe at all. Stayed at the courtyard. I would recommend if you've never been.

Why not read a Santa Fe newspaper for the real story ?

That's an idea, plus, I have two cops in my church I can ask. We're in our 60s and don't want to go to a place that well have to worry about getting robbed while at the Plaza .

I found a place called fort Marcy think it is. On a hill with private condos. Seemed really scenic. Price with AAA discount didn't seem to bad now I don't know if we'd be safer in a motel. Stuff I read tonight has got me frazzled.
