@cherry This guy was going over 65 miles per hour. He hit the truck behind me (it had heavy machinery in it), knocked it out of the way, came back on me, bounced off again and went around to my front, hit the right fender and hit the car in front of me and finally stopped!
The young guy in the truck said to me had he not been there he knew I'd be dead and he can't imagine what it would have been like had the heavy equipment (welding machine) not been there to take some of the hit.
You know my air bags never went off? Weird huh?
But your accident could definitely have been prevented. Texting and driving is (in my opinion people) similar to being drunk (been hit that way too). Why do people do either of those in something that weights at least 3 freaking tons going down the road? That's crazy, isn't it?

@Annabellethecat66 we were in town ,and stopped at a red light. If we would have been on the open road, I shudder to think what would have happened.
I told the guy off, roundly.

@Annabellethecat66 I thoroughly understand what you mean and am so sorry about your accident. I am glad in our state they at least have some provisions for trying to monitor the issue of those physically and mentally disabled to drive. It is far from perfect and I know there are thousands of people who are out there behind the wheel who shouldn't be. I personally know a couple of people who even have had their licenses revoked but still continue to drive. The only way to stop them is to have the car removed by the family or authorities.

I spent a morning this past week at the DMV. I was summoned for renewal in person for the first time in 10 years. Since then I've renewed online. I now have a brand new picture on my license.

Just a short response to clarify the glasses issue. I passed the eye test without wearing my glasses, thus there is nothing on my driver's license that requires me to do so. If for some odd reason I get pulled over by Law Enforcement, they will see that I have no requirement to wear glasses when driving.
Just a clarification so you better understand my situation and "glasses".

A friend of mine found out she could renew hers a few months early (in AZ) & did so & now her new license expires a couple of months before her birthday, so if you use your birthday to remind yourself you need to renew, this might not be the best way to go.
Also, here in AZ, your license is good until you're 65, though I think you have to come in every 12 years for a new photo. Once you hit 65, you renew every 5 years.

I think for the past 20 years or so, in CA, we've renewed our licenses by mail or online. As in AZ...we need to go in for a new photo after 12 years, and last time, I needed to have a vision test. I barely passed it. Had LASIX after that!

In Pennsylvania we renew and have to have photos taken every 4 years.
edited: to correct 4 years to 5 years
