I put off having a colonoscopy because I'd always heard how horrid the prep is.
Finally couldn't put it off anymore. Yes, the prep was awful.
But having a two-inch rectal tumor and a round of chemo infusions followed by weeks of chemoradiation is worse.
Do what you need to do to avoid the alternative.

@mollymaggie yes there are other alternatives. If you haven't seen your Dr yet you can always talk to him and let him know. You never know what the Dr will give you until you see him but explain to him how you feel about the drink.
For me, I don't mind the prep because I use Crystal light lemonade and I like it.

FYI .... You would get a LOT more feedback if this was posted in the Wellness section.

Yes, it’s called SuPrep. Your doctor can prescribe it. It’s available mail order from a company called GiftHealth. You cannot have colonoscopy unless you’ve done some sort of prep.
@RollTide2008 I used that prior to my last 2 colonoscopies--and I will be asking the doctor about alternatives in 5 years when my next one is due. I got (most of) it down, but it was a battle not to throw it up again! It's the most sickeningly sweet, obnoxious taste.

Yes, there's pills. I take that option but it's not covered by my insurance so I pay the $112. Totally worth it to me.
Edit to add, my Mom died of colon cancer so we have to do them every two years

If you have had colonoscopies in the past that were clear and have no family history of colon cancer, then you can test using a Cologuard kit. You send a very small fecal sample Taken at home) with no prep liquids needed. You can get the kit from your doctor. My insurance company sends me one every year. Easy to use and results are shared with you and your doctor.

The thing you MUST do with the pills is to still drink the same massive amount of beverage or kidney damage could happen. You will be eliminating a lot of liquid from your body due to the process and it must be replaced. That's my main problem, drinking all that liquid is such a short amount of time.
I had Go Lightly first time around and the Miralax prep the second time around and I still threw up.

The two I have had were suprep or dolcolax with miralax. Much more tolerable. The drink makes me nauseated.

Try drinking it very cold through a straw. If still having problems, call your physician.
