Boscov is a PA based family owned store.  As with most stores, some branches carry nicer merchandise than others.  I think it's a step up from KOHL'S or JCP but not nearly as nice as Macy's.

Online they have the same shoes and handbags for years.

What am I missing?  I have one nearby, was anxiously awaiting its opening because I had never heard of it before reading about it here, and I was very disappointed.  I think my main problem is that things are arranged by brand name (the reason I don't shop at Macy's) so you have to scour the whole floor to find a certain type of clothing.  If I ever try something on and want to go back for a different size, I can't find my way back lol

Most of their nothing-special clothes and shoes seem to be marked ridiculously high so they can be put "on sale" at a later date.  Yes, I have bought a few things there, but after reading about it here I thought I was going to really like it.

i feel the same way you do @VanSleepy.

i honestly would rather shop at KOHLS instead of boscovs (and kohls gets beaten up on here all the time!)

Fantastic sales.  We are short on malls in our area.  Most have closed.  Our Boscovs is at one end of a  vacant mall.  I am mostly an online shopper but when I want to see something in person I always go there and get good deals.

ONe in my area that has since closed. It reminded me what Macy's is now. Better than Kohls but not upscale like Nordstrom.

Nice to hear you got some great buys there.

I hadn't heard of them either until I moved to PA; grew up sometimes going to "Bamberger's", which then became Macy's.

Thanks for the s/h info for future reference.

Although I'd rather buy online from Amazon (via 'Prime')Ebay, or another place and not have an order total to meet.

Plus deliveries are often much faster.

When I was working outside of the home and could afford the sales (LOL) at Talbots or Ann Taylor/Loft, there were some decent deals.

My overall style, though, has always been more Gap-ish and Eddie Bauer-ish.

FYI in case you're unaware, RetailMeNot.com is a great place to check for coupons for every store.

You can also get on their email lists for your favorite vendors.

@feline groovy

Would you please clarify?   R M Not is a type of clearing house for other retailers?   I typed in a few designer brands and the searches didn't come up with much.

@Tinkrbl44, whenever I'm considering a purchase online, I first google the name of the website + promo code. Example: I would google "Paula's Choice promo codes." That will bring up many sites that offer promo codes for that particular site, of which one is retailmenot, which I usually think is the best. I haven't ever registered on the site, though.

We had a Boscov's close by for years and I haunted the place.  Everything from clothing, linens, furniture, dishware, etc.  Then they closed that store down and a WalMart moved in.  Broke my heart.  We have another, but it's a bit of a drive and I really miss it.

I love Boxcov's.  We have one just a short distance away and it is a nice store, clean and well-stocked.  The best is, since it is in Delaware, no sales tax!

I have shopped there in person and online.  No problem either way.  The best place for the men in my family to get clothes, particulary suits.  They even do tailoring!  It is a regional chain.

When I need something and want to go to a brick and mortar store, this is the one I go to. I can choose among several but this is the best.
