I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet pet.  I don't live around the Boston area but I do know you can look up breeders online and see reviews.  Maybe a veterinarian's office could help.

Have you checked the American Kennel Club (akc.org) site?

So very sorry for your loss.

I would also suggest your vet as a source for finding breeders.

@mollymaggie

Check out 'Petfinders.com'.

They have a ton of search options, including searching by area, registered or not, age, etc.

Good luck finding your new fur baby!

Re: bichon breeder

Google the name of the breed and read the websites if some of the breeders.  They are usually pros who show their dogs and not backyard breeders.  Many will explain their philosophies and goals which should give you an idea of their ethics.  You can call and talk to them.

The Bichons used to have a very active Nationwide rescue group.  You might look for that too.  I've seen some lovely dogs there.  Haven't checked it for several years.

I am so sorry tohear about your furbaby.....

We lost our Maltese a little over a year ago and it was a long journey to find another one.

Other posters gave you some good ideas and I would like to add a few....

Also ask groomers...

Doggie daycare

Anyone that shows their dog in an AKC dog show (even if it isn't a Bichon). They are a tightknit group and probably know a good breeder, especially if they show a dog in the Toy Group.

Just be careful of the scammers!!

Eighteen years is amazing!! They say the oldest living Bichon on record is seventeen and a half. We have our Stanley who is a Bichon and he is sixteen years and three months. He is really failing fast now though. But they are amazing dogs and they do become family members quickly. I am sorry for your loss and I hope you find another one soon.

I think Colleen Lopez from HSN has a Bichon.
