Re: bathroom floor questions

I have porcelain tile in more than half of our house for over 8 years and none of it is chipped. If you get porcelain tile the color is all the way through. I have travertine in our master bath and the grout line 16th of an inch and it doesn't get dirty.

Re: bathroom floor questions

When our house was being built, we were young and went with laminate in the bathrooms and kitchen, as it seemed to be more economical at the time, and thinking we could redo them at some point. I never imagined we wouldn't do it for some 20+ years! We have redone floors in two bathrooms, replacing the laminate with porcelain tiles; 6" in one bathroom and something like 3" in the other. They look great, clean easily, and hasn't chipped. Grout can change color with age and wear, but there are specialty grout cleaners for that, if it bothers you. I wish we would have changed our floors a long time ago. I was hoping to remodel the last bathroom this summer, but we've had some medical issue surprises this year so that project may have to be put on a back burner for awhile.

Re: bathroom floor questions

We have a new floating tile floor, there was a laminate down and with the floating floor the old floor did not have to be perfectly clean and level. The tiles are individual and then grouted in. It has been down 2+ years and still looks like new. We purchased the product at Menards, and there are several colors to choose from. I love it, it is cold in the winter but I do have an area run on the floor.

Re: bathroom floor questions

We have subway tile in the bathroom and "manufactured" flooring that came in 4' x 12" pieces that snapped together, for the kitchen floor. Love each of them!

We put travertine tile in the bathrooms - wears like iron and looks great. It's about 10 years old. chum
