I'm remodeling my cottage bathroom and currently have laminate floors. I don't know if I should get laminate again or do tile. We purchased the cottage with the bathroom floors already in. We have replaced the carpet in the rest of the house with hardwood. Any thoughts?

Re: bathroom floor questions

I like laminate. My tiles chip and the grout gets dirty.

Re: bathroom floor questions

It depends...How well did you do with the laminate? Did you like it? Did it hold up well?

I had laminate in the bathrooms in one of my houses, and I did fine with it. Of course, we didn't have kids and we don't take multiple steamy showers a day.

We have tile now, and I love it.

One of the reasons I chose laminate before was because it was a smaller house, and I wanted a clean, uniform look without chopping it up too much. I had laminate through the whole house.

I like tile in the bathroom. I haven't had any grout or chipping issues. I have light tan tiles 12x12 with matching grout in all the bathrooms.

I have the 12 x 12 tiles also. I like them.

I tend to drop things. Mainly, my kitchen has chips.

I like either, it depends on the laminate and on the tile. I've recently had both and while I like the look of tile in the bathroom, the laminate was a bit easier to maintain.

Re: bathroom floor questions

I have laminate in several rooms, including the kitchen, and love it. It will not scratch like hardwood in the event you have small animals. So, my vote is for laminate. If you use laminate, get the best rated product available.
