That's a bummer, it is always disappointing when you lose a piece of jewelry that is special to you. Do you wear mostly post/clutch back earrings? Perhaps you should try wearing lever backs or omega backs, or like another suggested the posts with the screw on backs that are more secure. I rarely wear post/clutch style earrings anymore, although I do have a pair of diamond studs that are that style. I like the hook style earrings, but unless I use those little plastic "stoppers" they always come out of my ears. I practically live in a pair of 14k white gold omega back small hoops, I sleep in them, shower in them and never have a problem with them coming off. Maybe you could make a charm out of your remaining earring, either on a necklace or bracelet.

ETA: Perhaps call both stores and talk to their lost and found depts. You never know if someone might find your earring and turn it in, it's not like anyone could use a single earring. Hope it gets returned to you.

You aren't old enough to wear good jewelry. When you grow up a little more you can try again.

I hear that! I never lose an el-cheapo earring that I got at a garage sale. It's always one of my better-quality sterling or gold earrings. I have gold/diamond earrings I inherited a few years ago & am afraid to wear them just for that reason. What a waste, huh?

I lost a large gold bracelet a few years ago. Broke my heart. Two years ago I was cleaning out the files at work and thought that one felt a little ""heavy"". Opened it up and there was my bracelet. The clasp had come loose and it just slipped right off without me ever noticing. So glad I was the one to clean out the files.

I ALWAYS use a rubber back on my earrings. (they come free on almost all of the fashion earrings now) especially with shepards hook style earrings. They grip so much better than the little gold ones. hypo allergenic as well. I haven't lost a earring in forever.

I am with you on that one! I just purchased SS hoop earrings, after looking for a long time, and lost one of them the other day. Going to keep looking and hang on to that lonely one. Maybe it will show up one of these days.

Oh gosh I have lost several over the years! Of course they are always favorites! Twice I lost them while trying on other earrings! Arrrggghh! Meant to say when shopping for earrings!

Have you tried Ebay? I lost one earring of a pair that I loved, luckily they were a specific brand and I just kept on searching until I found that exact pair offered at a good price. It's worth a try if you have something about them that will let create a search for them.

I also have a pair of earrings that I have lost one of twice! They were a gift from my sister and I swear God wants me to have them b/c the missing earring has miraculously turned up both times, one time in the car and the other time in a hotel parking lot in a spot I would not have seen if I hadn't decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator. I hadn't even been in the parking lot that morning, don't know how it got there, but there itwas on the ground as I walked to my car.

Have you searched your car? It could be under the seats or between them or by the seatbelt.

Hope you find it - good luck!
