Zulily set to relaunch under new owner Beyond, now led by Marcus Lemonis of ‘The Profit’ TV [CNBC reality show].

The embattled online retailer, which laid off hundreds of employees last year as part of a shutdown, appears to be relaunching in a new chapter.  

Beyond, was previously known as Overstock which acquired Bed Bath & Beyond last year.

QVC parent Qurate acquired Zulily in 2015 for $2.4 billion, but ultimately sold the company to a little known private equity firm called Regent last May.

Zulily's rapid deterioration under Regent’s ownership came as a shock to more than 800 employees across three states who lost their jobs.

Lemonis joined the Beyond board in October and was named chairman in December.

Zulily's rapid deterioration actually came after Qurate bought them. That's what shocked me.  The year before the acquisition, their sales were up 17%.  Afterward it was a long downhill slide.   I was a big shopper there before Qurate got their hands on them but it was never the same again.  They lost most of my favorite vendors.

I'll be interested to see their offerings.

This morning, I dipped into my inventory of Zulily quilted throws I had purchased for charity gift baskets.  I'm down to about 5 now, so hoping they have a nice selection of items as before.

Such a shame all those folks were put out of work!
