Re: Your "Unboxing/Unbagging" Routine?

My Q purchases are limited to blouses & pj's from 4 clothing lines & home-holiday decor...I don't have a routine, I just do what's needed for each item to make sure it's in excellent condition & it works for me. I buy everything online with a cash back CC & a cash back company like Rakuten & prefer to use local retailers, it's easy to order, pickup & return...I don't like mailing items back.

Re: Your "Unboxing/Unbagging" Routine?

i order very few clothing items online.  i use to order a lot of jewelry. UPS delivers at noon, and i have a lurker aka DH nearby so i wait til later.  i do slice the boxes open and see if all items are accounted for.  i like to examine and try on my purchases alone.

later when he's watching TV. if i'm in the kitchen at my computer i'll take the jewelry items out - if i order a ring i will chant PLEASEFITPLEASEFITPLEASEFIT. (iknow sounds fruit loopy)

Clothing - i have to wait til he goes out for a  walk to try on. i do the PLEASEFIT thing only with jeans because i am so jeans-fit challenged.    Tops and sweaters almost always fit.  i don't care for B&M dressing rooms so all clothing gets tried on at home

i do not order shoes online, but B&M shopping i will let them sit in the box for a day or so. i only try one on in the store mostly because i hate walking around trying with lots of other shoppers milling around.

if i need to return, online returns i wait a week or do in case i change my mind.

Re: Your "Unboxing/Unbagging" Routine?

I'm not ordering as much as I used to either.  Normally it just depends on the day.  I will bring packages in and sometimes they will sit in my garage for several days before I can get to them.  I never buy "real" expensive items , I've mostly just bought candles or lanterns other than clothing.  So when I have time I open them in out there so the mess stays out there too with that God awful styrofoam packing.......same with the clothing, I'll unpack and I do the opposite of you........try it on just before my shower in case there is anything "gross" on it that I cannot see, LOL!

Re: Your "Unboxing/Unbagging" Routine?

I get all my deliveries here at my office and the drop off boxes for all shipping is in our garage parking.  Many times I get a delivery around noon and the shipping company is putting back in their truck by around my dinner time.  So I do open immediately.

Unboxing routine?  LOL, it sounds so ceremonious.

My routine - hubby brings it in, I rip open the envelope or get a scissor and slice the box open.  I look at the item, try it on, and decide if I like it enough to keep it or put it back in the package and have it ready for return the following day.

Re: Your "Unboxing/Unbagging" Routine?

I order very little from the Q and, off the top of my head, I can't even remember what my last order was.  However, I open everything immediately after getting home from work.  If it is a clothing item, I will try it on and if it's a washable item, into the laundry basket it goes.

Re: Your "Unboxing/Unbagging" Routine?

I won't open or try on when it's dark outside. So sometimes my orders have to wait one day.

I won't try on clothing that is a "return" unless I can take a shower after!

If there is no problem with a "return," I wash it right away.

If clothing is brand new and in the right season, I have been known to wear it right away. I have also been known to try something on, decide it's OK,  and put it right in my suitcase!   Smiley Wink

@timeless   I love your description of your unboxing routines- so attuned to all of your senses and really thorough.  If I get a pair of Any Body Joggers in the mail, I immediately throw the packaging away because I know that I love them and then I try them on and wear them lounging around the house for the rest of the day.  When I order a hair spray or styling product, I open the box and then I wash my hair and lightly towel dry my hair, use the styling product and blow dry my hair.  If I'm unboxing candy (I purchased a Lindt truffle TSV and a peppermint bark TSV years ago) I open it and try it immediately Smiley Very Happy.
