I'm familiar with You Tube. I go on there frequently and look at videos. 

Can someone with more knowledge than me explain why you subscribe to something on there?  What does subscribing do for you?  

I just created an account and subscribed to Animal Adventure Park but I didn't know what subscribing really means.

Wouldn't it be subscribing to topics or groups that are of interest to you?  What you can also do is subscribe to various you-tubers who have followers.  Many folk in their presentations will tell you to "hit the subscribe button" so that it shows up in the count of how many people watch their uploads/videos.

Vlogging.  QVC is on there with subscribers.  No comments can be made on QVC's videos though.

You sometimes get notified of new videos from those channels. And your recommended videos reflect your subscriptions. I appreciate that because I don't usually relate to what's "hot" with the youtube kiddos. Having subscribed to several channels, I get recommendations much more in line with my interests.

For me it seems random, i.e. I don't get notices weekly or monthly, just whenever. It may be when a new video is put up. But yes, you will get emails regarding accounts you're subbed to.  Youtube assumes if you like one thing a person put up you might want to see more from them.

I dont get emails when new vids are posted....maybe thats a setting I have ???.....But...when I go to the site I click subscriptions and they are all there...I dont hve to search for them

There is a bell on the top right. If you ring the bell, you will get notifications exactly when the videos are posted. BEWARE!! If you choose this option, you can be woken up at any time of the night. I finally said no more and unrang the bell.

I subscribe to several channels on YouTube. By subscribing to a channel, it allows me easier access to the channel's content. I don't have search all of YouTube for one particular thing. I also get updates when items are uploaded to my YouTube channels.

I found this out by accident, when one subscribes on YouTube it shows up in Gmail so you can know when a new video is added.

Hope this makes sense... surprised me!
