Re: Yikes, 4th Of July Is A Week From Tomorrow

[ Edited ]

FINALLY  it is now illegal to set off fireworks in our area... of course there are those who refuse to follow the law and do it anyway.

With the fire danger this time of year,  fire works are not good to set off in neighborhoods. My neighbor a few houses down had his roof catch on fire two years ago from bottle rockets a neighbors boy set off. Did not make for neighborly relations.... thank goodness they caught  it before it turned into a  disaster.

@On It   This guy target shoots frequently at night, he just does it longer on the 4th.

He has targets behind his house and stands on his deck and blasts away. Most times he waits until 10 or 11 at night. My hubby figured he has night vision googles or whatever they are called.

There are no police in our village, no constable, nada.  I would have to call the state police and the closest barrack is 14 miles away. He is on his own property and not aiming at my house.  Also, he is a nasty piece of work and I'm not going to do anything to get him p*ssed at me.

First, he has goggles not googles. Good grief Jane, pay attention.

I wanted to add Wyatt Earp next door got mad at one of his own family members and put sugar in their gas tank, so I do not poke the crazy azzed bear.

@CrazyKittyLvr2  Yikes, how terrible for you!  That's why I'm glad I live outside of town with NO close neighbors.

@KKJ  My closest neighbor on the other side is 1/4 mile away and is a widow nearly 80. I never see her.

Sadly, I have this guy right next to me. When his folks were alive and lived there it was different. His mother is probably turning over in her grave if she knows what the place looks like now.

If he doesn't own the house maybe he'll fall behind on mortgage and the bank will be your answer.

My theory is you seen one , you've seen them all.

Re: Yikes, 4th Of July Is A Week From Tomorrow

@SharkE  Not going to happen.  We are in the heart of the shale/gas lease area. He got a butt ton of money for signing a lease. Most folks around here that got money fixed up their farms and houses. Not his guy. He started a junk yard. He brings in old cars and trucks and parks them. I avoid looking out windows.

Not sure if he owns it now or not, he just moved when when parents died and declared it his. Legal fight with siblings lasted over a decade and might still be going on.

People could live very comfortably on the legal fees alone paid on this fight.

Re: Yikes, 4th Of July Is A Week From Tomorrow

Even though I am grateful citizen of Independence Day 🇺🇸, I am not a fan of all the fireworks. Some neighborhoods go kuku with them for days after. Anyone that has pets knows it can be traumatic for many of them from the noises.

No special days sneak up on me. Fly by faster? Yes, it has nothing to do with my retirement. More to do with, everything in time seemingly going by faster. Makes sense as I am on the downhill side of life. Most find it harder to run the same speed on a uphill climb, than running downhill. Thus it seems much faster.

Don't forget the meaning of the day other than z long weekend/cookouts and more noise.

What a shame to have a neighbor like him! I am sorry you have to deal with someone like him. You are wise to not "poke the bear." Sadly, these bullies are dangerous.

@hckynutjohn Thanks for sharing your theory of time perception. You've helped me realize that, yes, everything in time IS seemingly going faster, with me just flying downhill, with no brakes. Why didn't I think of that? At least I know I'm not doing it alone. I'm in good company :-).
