I recently received an Yankee Candle for a gift. I loved the scent so much I thought I would order one. When I went on line and saw how much it was I said forget it. Why are candles so expensive?

I'm melting a ""Fresh Cut Roses"" wax tart today.

Check out www.thelampstand.com. They don't have Yankee but they do have a large variety of other brands. I love the Crossroads and Woodwick brands. IMO their fragrance is better than Yankee.

Sign up for their emails. They have promotions going all the time similar to the ones in Sunshine's reply. I especially like the Buy 2 Get 2 Free promotions. I haven't paid full price for a Yankee Candle in decades.

Yankee candles are nice and I have spent boatloads over the past couple of decades on so many. But my absolute favorite is having a Scentsy and just using low wattage light bulb now. Central Park Praline is to die for.

But don't these have to be purchased from a dealer?

I've seen them on Amazon. My daughter knew someone that sold them and I don't care for any of the scents that much though they have some very cute items like burners etc. My daughter likes the scents. I guess it's a personal preference or I haven't tried the right one but I've tried quite a few.

Yanke Candles are my least favorite. No matter what I've tried and followed all directions/suggestions, they never burn right. 90% of the time they burn down through the center and leave a lot of wax on the sides ("tunneling").
They also throw a lot of soot. Lots of black soot build up on the glass container, and the walls/ceilings near the burning candle.
And, the scent isn't very strong on most of them.
I much prefer Village Candle to Yankee.
