Re: Y2K: How did you prepare?

I didn't do anything to prepare. I never really believed the hype.

Re: Y2K: How did you prepare?

Iwas on the NYC HHC commitee to prepare for Y2K. I was watching the camera in the Emergency Management Bunker (in the WTC Smiley Sad), seeing my boss and calling him to yell at him that he didn't take me along LOL. It was bitterweet relief the next day when we confirmed that nothing had happened. We had run practice scenarios for every possible patient situation and came up with alternative actions.

Re: Y2K: How did you prepare?

We were building a new home at the time and had it totally wired to run off a generator if needed.

However, we would have done that anyay as we live in Hurricane alley and lose power to ice stormes a couple of times each winter.

It has been great to have it.

I partied like there was no tomorrow then watched the Rose Parade and carried on with our usual New Year's Day activities.

Re: Y2K: How did you prepare?

A few days prior, DH and I had an opportunity to buy an 1860 Pfaff Treadle sewing machine for our antique business and from then on we told people that Treadle was our preparation for Y2K!  It wasn't (we were kidding), but we decided to keep that very unusual, very old, fully functioning with locking lid sewing machine....  and we still have it today....   Woman LOL

We thought it was hype too... did nothing....

Re: Y2K: How did you prepare?

I remember looking to buy a new computer in 1999 and seeing "Y2K-READY" being advertised. I didn't feel comfortable about that so I just waited until the following year to buy one. NBD.

Re: Y2K: How did you prepare?

My Y2K IT guy said nothing much would happen and the bigger problems would be the leap year issue.  Which for most we know turned out to be a great prediction!

Re: Y2K: How did you prepare?

We were busy putting food, water, toilet paper (why?) etc. on the floor because we were going to be floor-ridden for a few days due to some solar activity.  The problem was we would not be able to get up from the floor.

Was that the same time as the Y2K?

I am kidding here-we didn't do that but I remember people storing things on their floors for some event that was predicted.  LOL
