I did nothing to prepare, but I did have several invites to hunker down with friends, but I stayed home with my dog and kitties.

That was almost 18 years ago, I barely remember it happening. In our home, we didn't do anything. We were pretty sure the vcr wouldn't explode and life as we knew it would continue. It was a big deal at work but we didn't have to do anything. There were teams of consultants who came in to do whatever had to be done. All we had to do was unplug our computers when we left.

We had a party. Our family made 4 pizzas, 3 were traditional round, the first one we shaped as the number 2. So on the counter the pizzas looked like 2000.
My co-worker told me to fill my bathtub wiith water, take all money out of the bank and buy a gun to protect our stuff. I didn't.
I watched the New Year come in without a problem across the globe, then went to bed.

Waiting to go into labor. Everyone was trying to have the millenium baby. My son was born 1/29.....right on time. And he was the only newborn on the unit. The unit was packed 2 weeks before. No babes were born Y2K night in that Chicago hospital.....missed it by "that much"!

Same thing I would do for a bad snowstorm coming ... or an earthquake. Filled my gas tank. Had extra cash in one dollar bills and bought a couple large jugs of drinking water.
I could never understand exactly WHAT those people thought would happen ... it sounded ridiculous, in most cases.

DH & I were in a very small appartment in Louisville. No room for extra groceries so we didn't do anything either.
Aunt Phyllis & Uncle Max had tanks installed on their property in MI filled with gas. It all went bad as they didn't use it. They also filled their basement with food and supplies and when we moved back she gave me some of the food but most went bad.
They also had the strange idea that their glass art would be able to be traded for future food and supplies and that no theives would ever steel it because it would be too hard to grab and run.
I loved them both but they were excentric (sp) to say the least.

We didn't do much, if I remember correctly. However, the bank that held our mortgage had a major computer glitch. They sent us a notice of an unpaid mortgage payment. But, I always paid in person, and had my receipt in hand when I marched into that bank!
