Great suggestions all. Some as I've said I'd love to do but need to investigate what's reasonably local for me. Other suggestions are just not for me, personally. My ideal would be the animal shelter or literacy, but would also enjoy helping other seniors with computers, applications, etc. and at women's/children's shelters.

Thanks, @dooBdoo 😍
I would indeed love to use my writing ability in a helpful way. I'm not hand-crafty at all, but am good at writing and, I've been told in the past, at teaching. It often fell to me over the years to be the teacher on new machines, new methods, software and various tasks that make up employee duties, so I'd feel somewhat confident in that, especially as regards adults. Fingers crossed I find a good fit!

Haven't read all the replies ...maybe this was already mentioned. Go to a nearby nursing home and tell them you'd like to read/visit patients who don't get company. It's easy and so rewarding.

Thank you so much, @Trinity11 :-D
I'm aiming to balance a retired pace of life, enjoying myself with hobbies, and also feeling useful. I think it can be done 😎

SMH, but as usual, not at all surprised. Or impressed. *Eyeroll.*
The self righteousness IS breathtaking.

You can't walk? You can't stand? I don't get it.
Maybe you can sit & read the newspaper to a veteran or a story to a child.
Just do it. Your heart will lead you
You "don't get" not being able to walk or stand? Some of us can't.

@Moonchilde.....when I read her post, my first inclination was to jump in and let her have it, but it would most likely get poofed, so I didn't. Yup, we can always rely on her input, can't we?
Best of luck to you and I'm sure you will find the right fit when the time is right.
