Sadly.....I didnt wait.  Some of my favorites like Microsoft Money were not compatible.  I rolled back and it screwed up everything.

I had to have my son's friend fix it by just rebooting by using F11 key.

BIG headache

I'm just learning Windows 8. When the little notification came up that my download of Windows 10 was "ready," I ignored it. Or clicked it off, because I didn't want to deal with it then......................can you get it again?

I can't find a place to get it again.

Received notice this evening that my new Win 10 laptop has shipped.  I'm hoping it will be easy to configure it the way I want from a clean state.

So far my favorite new feature is the ability to have fully independent multiple desktops.  So much potential with that.

I think you'll be OK, Marp, especially since there's a lot of help online, like...

HTH   8-)

Thanks for the links, I will check them out.  I've not had any problems with Win 10 and I really like it.  What I'm unsure about is getting everything set up on the new laptop so it mimics what is on this one.  That means installing programs, bringing over existing data, tweaking settings, etc.

That takes a long time and sometimes more than a little frustration when you know where everything is and where it goes.  With a new OS things may need to be handled a little differently.  Won't know for sure until I get into it and I am likely fretting over nothing.

I totally understand; that's a biggie for me as well.

LOL Feline Groovy, I'm already addicted to the multiple desktops.  I can be posting, playing solitaire and look busily productive to anyway looking at my screen in the blink of an eye.

My advice is don't update.  Microsoft doesn't want anything on your computer that isn't microsoft.

Itunes right now is not compatible with windows 10.

I'm assuming that they will have to fix itunes compatibitly sooner or later.

I downloaded the chrome browser again  so I got all my online bookmarks back.   And of course I had forgotten my google password and had to go thru verification again.

It says you can go back to your old operating system within in a month but I honestly don't think I'll be able to.  My biggest issue is the itunes.

But I can only say I was dumb to update.  I requested a call back yesterday from microsoft and the soonest is friday afternoon.

@lovescats  Yep, that is why I always wait when something new comes out so they can have a chance to get all the bugs out......I'm suspicous of new technology...LOL Smiley Wink  I hope you get your old system back and running...

I think one  big thing about microsoft giving this free is that they want people to use their new browser and bing rather than google and chrome so people will see the ads that they get money off of.   If would be a big nuisance for me if I had to give up chrome because I just have too many bookmarks plus I really like ad blocker plus.
