When I was googling for some info about cell service
providers I saw the reports of widespread cell phone
service outages
in the southeast and southwest USA for companies
like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint.
Looks like it's been going on for hours
and not fixed yet.
If you don't have a land line what would be your
ways to deal with your phones being out for an
extended time?

Good question. That's why I would never give up my landline!

@MyShadowLove your post looks invisible to me?
@willomenia, @Marp, @riley1, @madcity411,
thanks for your posts!
Yes I think people are too connected
to their phones but for some people
it's the ONLY phone and it would be
a worry if the service is kaput for
an extended time. Something to think
about imho.

I'm just old (and old fashioned) enough to still want a land line. We live in the country, and until just a couple of years ago, we couldn't maintain a cell signal in our house or on a lot of our acreage, so a land line was necessary.
I don't like the dual expense, but for now, we will keep a land line for as long as we can get one (they talk about doing away with landlines in the rural areas because of the cost of maintaining them) and afford one.

ATT goes out all the time around here when it comes to using the Internet or data plan. They explained it's due to high traffic/peak times. When I said it wasn't like that when I signed up for the plan, the rep explained that they've added lots of new users since I signed up, so the tower can't accommodate all of us at certain times like Saturday morning and 8:00 p.m. They plan to build a new tower, but doesn't seem to be anything high on the priority list. Seems like there should be some sort of regulation preventing them from adding all these users in my area if they aren't able to provide good service to everyone. I finally dropped my ATT home internet service, and I plan to drop as cell phone carrier as soon as contract is up.
ETA: I have a land line if needed.
