Our part of West Texas has been issued a Wildfire Outbreak forecast for Tuesday. The conditions are ripe for producing wildfires. We will have high winds, low humidity, and high temperatures. I don't recall the last time we had this type of warning and a Wildfire Outbreak forecast. Strong winds are a part of our everyday life, but this seems like some sort of perfect storm for destruction.

This drought is worsening each and every day. It seems all we have left in our weather is extremes.

Re: Wildfire Outbreak Forecast

@On It    We've got the same going on in New Mexico.  There are a number of fires burning around the state, a big one in the mountains near Las Vegas, NM.  The worst would be a huge fire in the grasslands in the plains as they can cover a huge area.

Every day, wind, wind, wind.   Just heard Apache County, Az., will have winds up to 75mph. This whole winter we've had unusually heavy winds.

Re: Wildfire Outbreak Forecast

I'm in Colorado and when I looked out my window yesterday my humidity gauge was reading 2%. It has been like that for several days now and will continue on for the rest of the week with high winds blowing constantly. Already have had several grass fires around, some with evacuations. Weather people are begging people to be extra careful with anything that could spark a fire.

@SilleeMee

I’m also in Colorado and this is par for us here. The Chinook winds are the worst.

Re: Wildfire Outbreak Forecast

A fire started this afternoon in the Bosque along the Rio Grande just South of Albuquerque.  Its a populated semi rural area and structures have already been destroyed.  Wind at 50mph is just fanning it.

fires are the new normal, I'm afraid--here in WA state, we have had fires in the eastern parts for the last few years too. this past week or 2 ,snow has dumped on our mountains , the Cascades , almost 10 feet or more from a few weather systems---and we needed it too. will help somewhat I hope----

Hope the weather people beat it into people's heads. People don't think and are so careless I could smack 'em. Here in amarillo, Tx we had some idiot people that were grilling hamburgers and grease fire hit the ground and poof off it went. Couple of yrs ago. We haven't had a good solid hard rain since moby d*ck was a sardine.
