Yes of course, because it's all about RATINGS for CNN.

Also, did you know that the debate was supposed to be 2 hrs. long but CNN realized they could get advertising money for more time so two days before the show it was made into a three-hour  debate? (This according to Donald Trump).  It's all about ratings and dollars.  So of course CNN was interesting in instigating fights which would make for more viewer interest (to watch the entire show), good ratings, and more advertising dollars.  Most of the questions posed were to Trump and Bush with Fiorina just butting in all the time interrupting to get air time; hardly any questions were asked of Huckabee, Walker (who is really boring), Cruz, or Kasich.  Rand Paul a few more but not many.  It's as if CNN didn't take the other candidates seriously.  CNN knew what it was doing - exactly - and it worked.

In respect to just asking a few questions of the low polling candidates FNC did the same thing. It worked for them as well. Smiley Wink

@Lila Belle   First of all, I was sticking to the subject of this thread.

Second, Foxnews didn't do it nearly as much or as badly as CNN did.  If you look at the stats for time spent on each candidate on the Foxnews debate, except for Trump which way ahead of others got the most air time, the air time stats are much closer than last night's for each candidate.  Really, go look it up.

Interesting response to the truth. You must not have looked up the facts.

Not all of us watch or listen to the news on a regular basis. I hate the news- it is all negative for the most part. And if we don't live in or near the states some of these candidates are from then why would we know them intimately?

There are only a few I am not familar with- know their names but not always sure which is which.

Again, I am surprised at all the politic shaming.

And those asking us who aren't able to recite each candidates by name, face, stance on all issues, etc not to vote must be from one of the parties worried about losing next year...lol Smiley Wink

Thank You!  And for those of us who live on the West Coast, we get home after the time the debates begin, so we miss all the intros.  Then we get to catch bits and snippets while we check our messages and start and eat our dinner.  I have tried to watch most of both debates, and I still can't ID each of these people.  Names in front of them, in any way, would be helpful.  This isn't a difficult thing to do!

Yes, I have heard their names for years...that doesn't mean I recognize their faces when they're up on a stage and speaking.

We don't all watch a lot of tv.  My kids don't watch any tv at all...don't have cable.

I will thank you not to address me when you are ranting about someone telling you not to vote, because it wasn't me.

I didn't remember what Scott Rubio looked like and what state he was from; same with Scott Walker but everyone else yes, I knew from the news.  Pffft!

Giving each face a name would have been helpful if you had missed the introduction.

I get very little news from TV, I get most information from online sources.  I have Google News as my home page.  They always use a wide variety of sources to read from.
