I'm not directing this to anyone.  If I don't know an acronym, I just Google it.  I don't feel offended or left out.  I'm not disgusted or mad.  If I care enough about the topic, I learn what it means. YKWIM?

@monicakm Google does not know initials for brand names. Google does not know initials only for college basketball players.  Google does not know initials for the arena where and event will be held.  You can't learn these things.  You just have to puzzle over them or ignore them or be one of the in crowd--like here on the beauty pages.

I read those and most often have no clue what they are about, what companies or products.  So I just don't read.  Which is fine for everyone I guess.  It's as if the world is suddenly in an "if you don't know you don't need to know" phase.

@Sooner

maybe this is happening more in YOUR area than in other areas. i cannot say that i have ever seen or heard of this in my area on the news or in the newspapers?.....especially in regards to people or places.

of course we have heard of brand names that are just "initials" because that has been going on for years now. we dont say procter and gamble, we say PG. many people now call burger king BK or mcdonalds mickyds. we dont call our banks by their full names, we just use the initials.....MT, FNBO, BofA, SECU.

even way back in the olden days we said TGIF! lol

@sunshine45 Well, don't move out of your area, because we have different banks here.
