English was my favorite subject. 

Mine too!  Grammar, not Literature.  I just hope I remember enough of it to not sound like a buffoon   I'm that person who whispers under her breath when someone says something grammatically incorrect.  Living in TX, it's a full time job LOL  And then the rules change.  What??  How can it now be acceptable to end a sentence in a preposition?  I do it because to say it correctly sounds odd and stuffy but Google says it's correct and that the rule was based on Latin grammar, not English.

I'm not directing this to anyone.  If I don't know an acronym, I just Google it.  I don't feel offended or left out.  I'm not disgusted or mad.  If I care enough about the topic, I learn what it means. YKWIM?

I just was reading a letter from the 1800's. The language and wording was so flowery and formal and strange!

 Language does change so much and now from year to year!

I always like looking up phrases and initials I don't know and the urban dictionary stuff but I do find it annoying at times when it seems like everyone who is anyone should know or are supposed to know some initials or phrase for those in "the know."

I always have to ask my younger sister (who works with teens and 20 somethings) or my daughter what the abbreviations stand for. I never have a clue. My husband gets so annoyed when he reads things that are abbreviated. One day, he chimed into a group chat and used a bunch of bogus abbreviations just to confuse people. He said, “see how they like it!” He got a real kick out of that!

Just want to add, i understand DD, DH,DS , don't have a problem with that ,we know what that means.
