I just received the results of a medical test I had yesterday through the patient portal. I am described as a heavy smoking Native American. I am neither.

Good grief.

  Hi @PickyPicky3   Woman Happy

I'm sad this happened to you.

This wrong Medical Info could impact any approval, or, price of any Health, or Life Insurance you may want in future, for starters, & that's only at a minimum impact for posting a wrong Medical History!.

Even may impact you, if there's a need for Pre-Approval for Surgery, or Medical Svcs approval, ex, Payment of any Medical Services you might need to have, to come.

I would call & set that office/doctor straight!

And then, check up after their correction, that they remedied your Portal with corrected truth.

Good luck!

I wouldn't consider this a multi-tasking error unless I knew the person entering the information was multi-tasking at the time they were entering it.

Oh no! Are you saying the doctor who read my results thinks I am a heavy smoking Native American?

@JoyFilled Warrior    I told them medical reports with mistakes have a tendency to pop up and bite you in the a** at unexpected times.

They don't even pay attention. I'm 67 and was asked if I could be pregnant. I said if I was I'm suing someone because I had my tubes tied when I was 32 and if I was pregnant now I would be a medical anomaly.

@Meowingkitty

For the longest time after she had a hysterectomy, during medical visits my mom was still asked date of last period.

She routinely answered:  "April, 1974".

Re: Why Multitasking Doesn't Work

Years ago, it happened to an older relative.

Tests showed very high blood sugar (diabetes).......Thank goodness the old fashioned doctor took a finger sample, and it was normal.  I don't recall the exact number.....maybe 70 or so?

Anyway not near the 300's ? in the original blood test.

The doc said most likely a mistake.

'Always have a second test' is my suggestion.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Why Multitasking Doesn't Work

With the advent of computers, the workload required, the amount of documentation required, has exploded because someone above who doesn’t actually do the work, decided it’s “easy” to add just one more thing to track, one more report to generate. Every year, it’s more and more.

@PickyPicky3   This is one of the reasons I refuse to use or initiate electronic medical portals ( including My Chart).  Another reason....electronic medical portals have been hacked.

Re: Why Multitasking Doesn't Work

I run across all kinds of folks who have aches and pains here and there....

When I ask them if they reviewed the short term and long term side effects of their various medications on the paper that comes with their meds, they say: 'Well, no'....

Just saying this because I ran across someone just yesterday......

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

If you don't look at your info on your portal, you will have no idea if incorrect info is in there.

The portals exist even if you don't sign up to use it. All medical professional can update and view it.  All of your records are in there.

If your portal is hacked and wrong info is entered, you will have no idea.

Exactly, I liken that to an ostrich sticking their head in the sand thinking if they can't see their attacker then their attacker can't see them!
