Does anyone remember when you could go in the 5 and 10 and buy those little baby turtles and they put them in a carton for you to take home?

They had birds and fish also.

After those I had to run to the Barbie aisle to see if any new clothes came in.

@MershaI don't remember the turtles but I do remember the Barbie aisle.

Our Woolworths sold the kind of pad waitresses wrote their orders on. I remember we could buy them for a nickel and play restaurant . We had a lot of fun on the cheap. 😊

As a sophomore in high school, my first part time job was as a cashier at the local Woolworth's 5 & 10 !!!  Good picture there !

I thought I died and went to heaven:  assigned the candy counter !   Almost got sick from sampling too much....but it cured the sweet tooth !

@jlkz ~ My first part time job was at a Woolworth type store also, it was called Neisners and exactly the same type of store.  I was assigned the candy counter, too!  We weren't allowed to sample, but...😬

MElrose 2****. I loved going to the dimestore. The one downtown had a soda fountain/lunch counter. I bought a lot of marbles, loops for making those potholders, bouncing balls, chalk for hopscotch, candy, etc.
