Sounds like either you are a believer or you are not a believer. Is that the real question you are asking @CrazyKittyLvr2?  If so, I'm not participating in this discussion since it goes against the rules of the Forum.

The OP is assuming those responding believe in miracles. The question is whether this incident is or isn't one. Has nothing to do with religion.

I did not mean this in any religious sense. Also, I agree with person who mentioned destiny is the word I believed she used. I think you are alotted x amount of days when you are born and when you number is up that's it.  Someone I know never let sugar or an ounce of fat pass his lips. Said he was going to live to 100. I told him when his time came not eating a french fry wouldn't matter he's get hit by a bus or trip on the cat and fall down the stairs.

I do not believe in miracles; I do believe in very fortunate occurrences.

Why does it have to be an either/or?

Being in the right place at the right time can in itself be a miracle.

If true, then why falsify your existence with drugs & medications?

In the scenario of girl choking, we should just all let her choke to

death since her time was up?

If her time was truly up attempts to save her would not have worked.

@sidsmom  Sadly, in spite of medical intervention people do die. It was their time.  As to the little girl it wasn't her time.  I never said you should just give up on ill people or someone in danger. No one knows what any outcome will be but you do what you can.  Sometimes it's successful sometimes not.

Having worked in a hospital I have seen people die that were doing fine but died and people that had horrendous odds to make it, live.I believe you have a "time to die" but of course don't know when that time is.I just don't want to be on that plane when it's the pilots "time". I don't think doing the Heimlich was a miracle, however I do beleive in miracles but are few and far between.

Perhaps we all define "miracle" differently. I think of it as the first definition here, so that is the reason that I don't believe in miracles. And as you can see from the first definition, there is a religious overtone.

mir·a·cle
/ˈmirək(ə)l/
noun
noun: miracle; plural noun: miracles
  1. a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.
"the miracle of rising from the grave"
synonyms:wonder, marvel, sensation, phenomenon, supernatural phenomenon, mystery
"his recovery was a blessed miracle"
    • a highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences.
"it was a miracle that more people hadn't been killed or injured"
    • an amazing product or achievement, or an outstanding example of something.
"a machine which was a miracle of design"
synonyms:wonder, marvel, sensation, phenomenon, supernatural phenomenon, mystery
"his recovery was a blessed miracle"

I should have added that I also do not believe that the actual time of our death is preordained.
