I started posting back in the 90's. The forums were different back then.
Posters were lively and were given a lot more leeway on what they could post. There were a lot of heated discussions and people were banned forever or just for a few days.
The forums are better monitored now and posts are removed, but I don't see posters being banned like the old days.
You could exchange phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
I mailed the lid and seal of my broken electric pressure cooker to a male poster who needed his replaced.
I like the new forums, but confess I do miss the old ways and the posters. Some were a hoot. I was amazed at what some people would post.

@Oznell wrote:@SandySparkles , evidently I registered in 2014. I remember just reading at first, then posting after I found some categories like TV and Movies, and Home, that were highly sympatico.
How has it changed? I agree with you, @cjm61 , and others, that since that time, there has been an escalating aggression on the part of a small number of posters. The most disturbing to me is the taunting and mocking of some posters that might be perceived as vulnerable. It can happen, seemingly out of the blue. This behavior, against QVC standards-- and against simple human decency-- is sometimes caught and removed, and sometimes not.
Over time though, there's been more acknowledgement of this, and a sturdy pushback from some posters, rather than denying, excusing and enabling it, which used to happen more often. That's a good thing.
As time has gone on, I've learned to spot the really great posters, who are able to engage in civilized, discussion, regardless of topic, or differences in viewpoint. There are plenty of these people, you included, (of course!), and they make conversation a joy.
@Oznell Welcome!π₯° πππ This is yet another glowing example of your astute, thoughtful, INSIGHTFUL, well versed posts that I am CERTAIN will inspire others who have the pleasure of reading it!!πβ¨β¨ There is nothing more I can add, and will allow your LOVELY post to speak for itself!!β€β€
THANK you SO very much for caring to share your thought provoking perspective with us this evening!π€π

it was much less moderated back then! Anything did go, people argued vigorously. It was actually very entertaining.
@september Welcome!π₯° I think you are the FIRST to describe it as entertaining, but I can see how it sometimes might have been; depending on the nature of the content!π

I donβt know when I joined. I suppose I could figure it out. It has been a long time. I seem to remember that posters were extremely nasty toward the hosts. Was there any moderators way back when? I donβt remember posts or threads being taken down due to nastiness.
@Puppy Lips Welcome and WOW!π Kudos to you for having lasted SO long!!!π I am glad you did not leave because of it, and are here STILL enjoying the Forums as you desire!β€ I know much has been said to the contrary, but there really is something positive, FUN, or useful for everyone here.β€π One more YAY! for the moderation we have now.π

@Carmie Welcome!π₯° Your post was a DELIGHT to read!β€
I LOVEβ€ that there was more autonomy then, and that you could exchange information because there are several posters I would not mind meeting up with for coffee!π I enjoy their presence here that much!π
I met a poster once at a Safeway where I live after we struck up a conversation about our QVC and HSN related items we were wearing!πβ€ We had coffee and saw each other a few times in the neighborhood, but NEVER exchanged personal information and I regret that.π She was in poor health, and I never saw after a time, but it is a comforting memory.β€ I read where another poster had an eerily similar experience not long ago here, so perhaps my experience was not that unique!π₯°

late nineties. I spoke on air once with Jane Treacy around 2001. I mentioned that I was Smoochy on the forums and she said oh my goodness I've seen you on there. That's a darling name π€© (it was for my then Westie puppy who gave us sweet kisses all the time)

Hi! @SandySparkles π€
I had to look up the date to be sure. 2/8/22. I only knew about these Forums after a friend mentioned posts of a TSV were mostly positive. I asked her where did she find these posts and.. The rest is history!! π€
I admire all the long time posters that have been here for many many years. Iβm definitely a newbie in comparison. Many good people who are eager to help others and at the same time share their β€οΈ of shopping.
To me after a long day, watching the Q on Fashion nights especially, is both enjoyable and relaxing!! Iβm a Huge fan of everything QVC!! βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
Thanks for keeping the forums FUN!! π€π€π€
P.S. I still think youβre really an βAngelβ in disguise. ππ
@RescueLover Welcome!π₯° Your post has me smilin' ova here.π I must have forgotten to tuck my angel wings! <finger snap>π How WONDERFUL it is that your friend "led" you here, because now I have the honor and privilege of your kind spirit, and helpful contributions! You add a much appreciated positive force, that I find most MOST enjoyable!β€π₯°
THANK you SO much for caring to share such a lovely perspective this evening!π€

Anyone here remember the CCCC?
'Chocolate Covered Cherries Club'. Posters' favorite chocolates.
Also, a very humorous thread:
'I bought a wash board'.......Lots of laughs there.
