Some pennies, due to their age and scarcity, are very valuable.

@DesertGems   always anything more than a penny -  and sometimes even those.

I had a superior in my last teaching position who said you could tell the condition of the overall economy by observing which coins the kids left on the floors.

@DesertGems  When I was a little girl, I was walking with my Mom and found a penny... I picked it up and showed her... and then threw the penny..... My Mother stopped me and shook me and told me to never do that again.  ( My Mother grew up poor, and respected money). 

I think that moment struck with me for the rest of my life... and I ALWAYS pick up pennies to this day.... It was a lesson in respect.  I grew up  very comfortable and never needing anything and I needed to learn the lesson of respect as a child for money.

i stop and pick up any money i see, unless it is overly dirty or in mud.

I've had a penny on my driveway near the street for months.  I left it there wondering if anyone would pick it up.  Nobody has.

All of them and clean them off with a disinfectant wipe before putting them away.  

Every penny counts.

@justashopper  As a child, my mom taught me this. It's ingrained in my brain. I will never pass up a penny. When I pick one up, I keep it close for the day, like in my pocket.

I guess I still carry a child's belief that it will give me luck -- all day long. Why not, there's motivating power in positive belief, enabling us to control our own luck.
