Hi @MamaWick and PapaWick,
Never give it a thought. I completely quit gambling, of any kind decades ago. It was another 1 of my several addictions. For me it takes complete abstinence, to keep being successful. I don't even buy raffles tickets.
Now my wife? I have no idea if she buys them. She doesn't say, and I don't ask.
Hi to all the Wick Family from both of us,

I play as part of a pool. 9 people. First thing we would do is incorporate or whatever, become a legal entity.
we have had fun with this pool the last few weeks. We keep a running text going and in addition to our pool numbers, we have bought extra tickets from proceeds we have in reserve and our players have been kicking in extra tickets here and there.
As for my share, in addition to helping my family and friends, a few of which struggle, there is a local charity in Atlanta that I love that would be able to do a whole lot of good for people in our area.

1. Call Lawyer--work out taxes, charities, trust and executor
2. Get a private nurse for mom
3.Upgrade house
4. Buy one new auto
5. Get a maid service
6. Get a personal assistant maybe half day, maybe weekly, to get grocery list, answer mail, check bills are paid, call for and monitor house and yard repair. (Mr. Carson is what I'm thinking.)
7. Get a horse.
That's about it.

1) call my Sister we are 50/50 partners for everything.
2) Get a tax lawyer.
3) Buy a home closer to my kids and buy them homes closer to us.
4) I'd donate this house to the local animal shelter. We have a lot of property here.
5) Have full time nurses to help with DH.
6) Have a driver to take me anywhere I want to go.. because I can no longer drive.
7) of course set up trusts for the kids and grands..
DIL's would get extra just for taking and keeping my boys off my hand..LOL

First, take care of the taxes and get that money off the table. Then keep 1/2 of remainer for me and DH (I want to try being rich!). 1/4 to be divided among kids and grands. 1/4 in a Trust for many animal shelters.
Build a dream home suitable for DH and I as elders (one story, etc) Using a financial advisor and attorney set up a Trust to ensure that there are always funds for our long-term care (preferably in our home) if needed.

Witness protection. I'd want to be invisible to the world.

@MamaWick First of all, this is just my thinking that I would rather share the powerball with 20 or more winners with me.So the more winners even if we split it all up there are still a lot of money to share with each family, friends and charities we want to donate. The money will spread to more people. That is just my personal feeling, that is alot of money for one winner.

The first thing I'd do would be to make a few copies of the winning lottery ticket, then put the original in a fireproof safe, unsigned.
Next find a lawyer and financial advisor skilled in dealing with this to set up an anonymous trust. (I understand the Lottery Commission has recommendations.)
Once I actually had access to the money, I'd probably take a while to think about where DH and I want to go; what we'd want to do. There'd be no rush.
Oh and I'd change my will !!! Or maybe that would be top of the list. My favorite cat shelter would benefit. ![]()
It's nice to dream. (My mother always said you can be just as happy rich, as poor.)

I would hire a financial advisir. Pay taxes (which should be considerable) and then give money to my family so they could all live out their dreams. My biggest dream is to have an animal sanctuary for dogs and cats. So many are abused and left to suffer. I would help struggling families and make sure they have what they need to live a
good life. Many children in our country go hungry and that breaks my heart. No one in our country should ever go without food or shelter.
I would open an affordable day care for working families. I would hire the best to work with the children. I would provide teachers to help with their education. It is important to educate our youth.
It is important to me to help those that are struggling and just need that extra help to reach their goals. Money just offers an opportunity to give to those that are trying to do better but are struggling.
