People in PA speak slightly different depending where you live. I have a slight Pennsylvania Dutch accent. I have been known to say haus for house, nah for now. Bunny for Bonnie, I say outten the lights (not turn the lights off). We also say yous not you all. Now in Philly they have a distinctly different accent. They tend to go You know what I mean with emphasis kind of on the last syllable. (Its hard to explain you have to hear it ..lol).

True, like the Philly area is different from the PA Dutch and the western PA with it's West Virginia influence.

I so know what you mean. Smiley Wink

We would be North Midland (Northern Indiana). We never knew we had an accent until, on one of our Michigan vacations, we were told they could tell we were from Indiana by the way we talked. I thought we talked just like they did but I was only about 12 at the time.

I guess it's just mid-American even though I'm from Md. Folks I've met from mid America talk the same way we do.

Most in Md. have what I would call Midland. When I visited Illinois I found that the folks I met there spoke like we did here. I have also noticed that in N.C. you will find others with accents rather than Southern there since so many folks from the North have moved there for retirement or business relocation. My in-laws in N.C. used to tease me but not as much these days.
