Re: What's With The Signs???

Have you seen voter turnout statistics? It's shameful. Signs and ads can work on uninformed or apathetic voters, and there are plenty of those. So, yes, I do think they can have an impact.

I plan on putting a sign on my lawn for a school bond coming up. I am sure there are plenty of people who aren't even aware it's on the ballot.

Re: What's With The Signs???

I have a sign in my yard that states "Hate has no home here". No further comment needed and no other signs need to be displayed. It's obvious where we stand.

I never read signs and I do hate to see all of the sign pollution before and after elections.I think that whoever doesn’t pick up their signs should be heavily fined for littering.

@CelticCrafter  You took the words right out of my mouth about removing the signs!  I don't mind them, but I do mind when they are not removed.

Re: What's With The Signs???

I agree, no sign ever influenced anyone's vote on anything.  I think those signs are just a hold over from bygone days.  Just tradition.   Some of the tv commercials crack me up.  They seem to be more comical now even when that's not the intent.  There is one commercial here and they guy is running for secretary of state or something,  it's the office that regulates voting and voting booths and tallies.   Well, his opponent's says this guy who wants to manage voting related issues.....hasn't bothered to vote in 10 or 12 years....lol   I think stupid didn't know that people could easily find that out.....by contacting the office that he wants to head....lol

Signs don't influence my vote at all....I do the research and make up my own mind. Wish everyone would do that, but many people just vote because they have seen lots of signs with that name. Pity.

I view them as bumper stickers for lawns.

If my husband and I feel strongly about the outcome of an important election, yes, we will put up a lawn sign and/or a banner on our balcony.

I have no clue whether it influences anyone, but we feel good doing it.

Re: What's With The Signs???

I get sick of seeing the signs. I would never put one up. If you want me to advertise for you I need payment for that.

Sadly there are tons of people that vote just because they recognize a name and that's why they do it.

My father used to get paid by candidates that he allowed to put signs in his front yard.  He lived on a street with a lot of traffic.  He had no party preference, just whoever offered the best payment.
